The SAGEBRUSH 2023 NATIONAL BEP TRAINING CONFERENCE February 6th to February 10th will include: networking, break-out sessions, 19 Exhibitors, USBGA golf training, NAMA, RSA, SSA, and NCSAB speakers. Meet Kris DePuy. The 62-year-old is legally blind and works at Culver's - Findlay, OH. Kris sets orders in bags and on trays thanks to a system where the cooks talk through every order and Kris counts the “chutes” where the food is placed.

Kris started working here after she lost her position at a job placement service during the pandemic. The culture of inclusivity at this restaurant was recognized by a customer who made a Facebook post that went viral.

I’ll introduce you to other workers who are here through a program called “Project Life,” run by the Blanchard Valley Center Hancock County Board of Developmental Disabilities. In the meantime, stop in to say hi!

The RSVA® conference is July 1 through July 4. The RSVA® full package registration fee is $125 includes a $5 drawing ticket for the drawing occurring during the convention. On Friday, July 1, attend the RSVA® and IVIE open in person mixer, 9 pm -12 am. On Saturday, July 2, RSVA® Programming Sessions occur from 1:00 pm - 5:15 pm. The first panel will be “All about the Nebraska Business Enterprise Program”.
The second session will be on “The Value of Randolph-Sheppard Business Enterprises as Career Opportunities”.
The third session will be “Outlook Enrichment Assistance”.
On Sunday, July 3, the RSVA® Awards Luncheon will be from 12:15 pm to 2:30 PM with speaker: Deb Cook Lewis, ACB 1st Vice President, retired WA technology specialist, Clarkston, Washington. That evening, RSVA® will hold two events: 1st act "Enjoy some Laughs” with RSVA® comedian Willie Farrell with start time at 7:30 PM and Karaoke will start at 9 PM.
On Monday, July 4, the RSVA® casino trip will begin at 6:15 PM. The return will be near midnight. Take a break and enjoy visiting the Horshoe Casino.

Conference begins on Monday, February 14th with Sagebrush registration at 1 pm and the conference ends on Friday, February 18th. Registrants have the opportunity again to earn Continuing Education credits - please spread the word.

On Saturday, July 17th, from 1:00 PM to 2:15 PM, our motivational speaker will be Dr. Bill Takesh*ta, OD, FAAO, F.C.O.V.D. His topic: will be "The Journey- Navigating the Challenges"
He will speak on his own challenges as a sighted optometrist and continuing his career after losing his sight.
The three topics for the other three sessions that follow are:
• "The importance of the RS15" is a deepening discussion led by Kathy Roet, Director of the IA Business Enterprise Program.
• "LEARN about the most recent happenings in the ever-changing legal and legislative landscape involving Randolph-Sheppard vendors". Speakers will identify the latest legal cases and evaluate current happenings.
• "Perspective from the other side" features vendors and their experiences in a mostly white male profession. They will share tips for others considering the RS program.
