Dawn Herman was born 5/5/1943 in Michigan. Her parent were Mary Helen (Van Huff) Walters and Harrington Knapp Walters. She grew up in St. Claire Shores with many stories of skating on the lake and ‘roughing it’ at their vacation cabin on ‘The 40 Acres’. She met her first husband,( and father of her children) Charles Craig at The World Fair in Seattle Washington while visiting. They built on home in Alderwood Manor to raise children, Dan Craig, Cheryl Pyles, and Mike Herman. Mr. Craig left in 1977.
Dawn remarried to George Lloyd Herman in 1989 and they moved to Bremerton a few years later. They made many friends and enjoyed being a social hub for many family gatherings, friends and neighbors. When George passed away mom sold her house and lived alternating between children helping raise her grandsons, Daniel Craig, Joseph Craig, Nicholas Craig, Alexander Kesterson-Griffin and Jessie Pyles. She bought a condo in Lake Stevens and lived there with family until her failing health made it impossible to live there. She then moved to the Marysville Care Center, assisted living facility, where she had been a resident for 3 years surrounded by angels in disguise as doctors, aids and nurses giving her the care she needed around the clock.
Dawn passed away from pneumonia complications on March 14, 2020.
