Two doulas came together this morning & talked with new parents about their upcoming birth. The two doulas went their separate ways. One off to a postpartum visit & talk about her birth, how things have been & things to expect. The other doula is off to teach a childbirth class to a client who plans to birth at home. A fun filled rainy day!

Support for c-sections is just as important as a vaginal birth. Today I had the opportunity to be in the operating room as they did a c-section. But this only happened because the dad felt I would be better support in the moment than he could be. Parents shouldn't have to choose. Doulas are a paid part of their care team and I wish every hospital would allow a doula to be there to support the parents so that a parent wouldn't have to potentially miss out in some situations.
