For years I was misled into thinking that canola oil was healthy and would buy quarts of it. In reality, these popular oils have been mass marketed as “healthy” largely based on industry-funded research, and after you learn the truth you will avoid them like the plague.

These oils are heavily processed, extracted with the neurotoxin hexane, and usually come from GMO crops that are treated with toxic pesticides and chemicals.

“Vegetable oils” - which include canola oil and soybean oil - also aren’t healthy because they’re too high in omega-6 fatty acids, which increases the risk of obesity, inflammation, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and autoimmune diseases.

Try these healthier oils instead:

🔥 COCONUT OIL – The tropical saturated fat in coconut oil is made up of medium-chain triglycerides (MCT), which is shown to reduce cholesterol and obesity. Virgin unrefined coconut oil withstands temperatures up to about 350 degrees, so it’s great for most baking and medium-high heat sautéing.

🔥 EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL – There’s olive oil fraud going on, and some brands are mixed with unlabeled GMO oils (like soybean oil), so it’s important to find a brand you trust. I like Nuñez De Prado brand and use it to make my own salad dressings and other cold applications.

🔥 EXTRA VIRGIN SESAME OIL – Best for low-heat sauteing and works great when used sparingly as a condiment in stir-frys because it has a strong flavor. A naturally refined version is better for high-heat.

🔥 GRASS-FED GHEE - This clarified butter doesn’t contain dairy proteins or sugars, so it works well for high heat cooking.

🔥 AVOCADO OIL is another option for high heat cooking. There’s fraud here too and many brands are cut with soybean and other seed oils, or are rancid. Make sure to choose a brand like Chosen Foods or Marianne's Avocado Oil, which have been shown to be authentic. Unfortunately, these are not organic.
