My baby is one today so I thought I’d finally share her birth story here…it’s one of my favorite memories ever and I’m so grateful to everyone who supported me that day.
On September 17, 2024, I was 38 weeks and 5 days pregnant with my third baby. My previous two babies came after their due date so I had scheduled an elective induction on Thursday, which I had meticulously planned and was excited about. But on Tuesday, around 2am, I became aware something kept waking me up. I got up to use the bathroom and realized I was definitely having contractions! After not being able to fall back asleep, I downloaded a timer and wouldn’t you know, they were already 2-3 minutes apart. Things escalated rather rapidly from there and I soon woke my husband and my mom and let our doula know. By 4:07am, I was in a triage room, as you can see in the picture, grinning like a fool because I was so excited labor had started on its own before my induction and so shocked we were going to meet our baby today. I was 5cm dilated and definitely in active labor! They got me hooked up to an IV and antibiotics because I was GBS positive and by 5am I was in my room and had calmly decided I would like an epidural. I was having so much FUN and was so happy, I wanted to hold on to that feeling and be fully present for the rest of this delivery! Continued in comments!
