The final piece: isometrics. These are exercises where the muscle contracts without moving the joint — like holding a position steady.🧠

Isometrics help your muscles activate without requiring dynamic movement, which is especially helpful when joints feel unstable or painful.

They also:
✅ Build control
✅ Improve joint awareness
✅ Enhance proprioceptive feedback

All three strategies — closed-chain work, arthrokinematic movement, and isometrics — work together to retrain how your body senses and supports itself.

Part 2: Improving proprioception in EDS and hypermobility Another essential strategy: arthrokinematic-focused exercises. These are specific, guided movements that help retrain how your joints move within themselves — a process called arthrokinematics.✨ When your body re-learns how a joint is supposed to move, it can shift focus back to those areas — improving control, reducing compensation, and sharpening proprioceptive awareness.💡 Think of it as giving your brain a more accurate map of your body. You’ve heard us talk about fascia before... but do you know what it really is? 👀

Fascia is like the Saran Wrap of your body — a thin, strong layer of connective tissue that surrounds your muscles and lies just beneath the skin.

But it’s so much more than a wrapper:
✅ It reduces friction so your muscles can move freely
✅ It supports and connects muscle groups and organs
✅ It carries nerve signals — including pain
✅ And it needs to move well to help you move well

At Spiro Physical Therapy, we address fascia as a key part of healing — because healthy fascia helps with:
➡️ Better muscle activation
➡️ Reduced pain
➡️ Improved scar recovery

What Physical Therapists Wish You Knew 🧠💪
The biggest misconception about PT?
That you need to feel "good enough" to benefit from it.

The truth is — PT isn’t just for when you're almost healed. It’s for when you’re hurting, struggling, or can’t move like you used to.

Yes, we help you get stronger. But first, we work to:
✨ Minimize pain
✨ Calm your nervous system
✨ Rebuild trust in your body
✨ Restore proper muscle recruitment

Physical therapy is about healing, recovery, and prevention.
Modern PT (yes, we’re doctors now!) is more versatile than ever — and we’re here to support you through every step.
