The Foster Grandparent Program of Comprehend, Inc. has volunteers who tutor and mentor students one-on-one in the classrooms at 13 local schools. Foster Grandparents Program Volunteers serve Monday thru Friday, with a minimum of 5 hours a week but can volunteer for up to 40 hours. We know our volunteers are retired, so we allow flexible scheduling. Program Requirements: You need to be 55 years or older; Household income less than $31,920.00 for a 1-person household or $43,280.00 for a 2-person household per year; Willing to volunteer at least 5 hours per week; Pass the required State, Federal and National S*x Offenders Registry Background Check; No Educational Requirements. The Foster Grandparent Program has been serving Bracken, Fleming, Lewis, Mason & Robertson Counties in Kentucky for 47 years! The Foster Grandparent Program exists for the dual purpose of engaging person 55 years and older, particularly those with limited incomes, in volunteer service to meet critical community needs; provide a high quality experience that will enrich the lives of the volunteers and to provide supportive, person-to-person services to children with exceptional or special needs.
