The Comeback > The Setback 💥
On August 28th, I suffered a serious injury. The second I hit the ground, I knew I had broken my thumb and wrist. And the very first thought that came to my mind — through tears — wasn’t about eating, driving, or all the daily things I’d struggle with. It was, “I’m not going to be able to work out for a long time.”
I was devastated. I’ve spent the last eight years building strength and muscle, and the thought of losing that progress crushed me. I was in denial at first — I didn’t want to get it fixed and honestly thought I could just train through the pain. But eventually, I swallowed my pride, listened to my doctor, and I’m so glad I did.
He fixed me perfectly. Eight weeks later, I’m already back in the gym lifting almost exactly where I left off. 🙌
During recovery, I refused to be a victim. My doctor told me unilateral training would help preserve muscle, so that’s exactly what I did. Now my left arm is stronger than my right, but I managed to keep so much of my strength just by staying consistent. I also added something new — weighted vest walks, several miles a day.
Throughout the journey, I lost 8 pounds — including 4 pounds of muscle — which is tough to accept, but that’s my next goal: to build it all back and then some.
If you’re going through something hard or facing a setback, don’t give up. Stay positive, focus on what you can do, and keep moving forward. Because the comeback is always better than the setback. 💪🔥
