Three towns. One float. A Mardi Gras season to remember!

Southwest Health had the best time rolling through the Mardi Gras parades in Summit, Monticello, and McComb this year, and we’re proud to share that in Summit, our float was awarded 1st Place! Our CAO, Aaron Price, accepted the award from Mayor Percy Robinson on behalf of our team.

It’s always special to care for our community inside our walls, but it’s just as meaningful to stand beside them at events like this.

Nearly 26 years of service have shaped Cheryl Woodward, RN’s career, and now she begins a well-earned retirement. Her path took her through the emergency department and the operating room, experiences that built a strong foundation for the work she would later do at MCI, where she spent the past 14 years as a trusted and familiar presence.

Cheryl brought consistency and dedication to every role she filled. She was someone others relied on, and her contributions helped keep her teams running smoothly day after day. As Cheryl closes this chapter, we thank her for the time, effort, and care she gave throughout her career and wish her a retirement filled with rest, enjoyment, and new routines to love. Here's to you, Cheryl!

After 43 years of service, Kay Hunt, RN, has officially retired and it’s hard to imagine our halls without her. Over the years, Kay wore many hats that included serving as a 4th floor nurse and a postpartum nurse, but Kay spent the majority of her career in the Ambulatory Surgery Center, where so many patients and coworkers came to know and trust her.

Kay is the kind of person people are grateful to work alongside: steady, compassionate, and always willing to help. Her knowledge, kindness, and familiar presence made a difference far beyond her job title, and her impact will be felt for years to come. While she will be deeply missed, we are so happy for her as she begins this next chapter. We wish Kay a retirement filled with rest, joy, and all the things she enjoys.

It’s National Wear Red Day®, and our teams showed up loud, proud, and dressed in red... for a purpose. ❤️

Wearing red is more than a statement; it’s a reminder that heart disease remains the leading cause of death for women. Today, we wear red to raise awareness, encourage prevention, and stand up for heart health in our community.

Together, let’s keep the conversation going and continue making heart health a priority today and every day.

Through hands-on training, real-world job experience, and dedicated mentorship within our hospital, Project SEARCH participants gain valuable skills, confidence, and a pathway to meaningful work.

Programs like Project SEARCH reflect a commitment not only to quality healthcare, but to inclusion, opportunity, and strengthening the community we serve. We are grateful to our partners, staff mentors, and participants who make this program possible.

Project Search, a 10-month program that trains four developmentally disabled people a year for entry-level jobs, is in its second year at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.

Last Wednesday, the Diagnostic Sleep Center welcomed colleagues for an open house at their new facility within the Medical Pavilion, giving staff the opportunity to tour the space and learn more about the services offered.

A special thank-you goes to our incredible Sleep Center team for hosting such a welcoming and informative event. Their attention to detail and passion for patient care is always evident.

Sleep studies help identify and manage conditions such as sleep apnea, insomnia, and other sleep-related disorders. By monitoring key indicators during sleep, providers can develop personalized treatment plans that support better rest, improved health, and a higher quality of life.
