As humans, we know all too well the benefits of massage. So, do these same principals apply to animals? Pet massage as practiced by a qualified professional is grounded in real science - anatomy, kinesiology and psychology - and has practical applications for a pet's physical and mental health. Since massage looks and feels like pampering, many people automatically discount its value. Pet owners often fail to realize massage therapy is not merely glorified petting. The result is decreased anxiety and an enhanced sense of well-being. To keep your best friend healthy, remember to meet all of her needs, not just the physical ones. Don't overlook the positive results for social and emotional health that massage provides. Dogs are pack animals by nature and thrive on close contact with each other and humans. Consistent massage can help to build a dog's self-confidence, sociability and feelings of trust and belonging. November highlights senior pets and pet cancer. Obviously one of these things we love and the other we hate. They are both important. Let’s give our seniors some extra love this month. How about a warm blanket from the dryer or a massage? Let’s also celebrate our cancer survivors and research and care teams whille honoring those we’ve lost. Show us your seniors and cancer warriors! We love them all. ❤️🐾
