Finding Your Inner Calm

Finding Your Inner Calm Hi, I'm Michele. I help caregivers navigate ongoing stress, grief, and overwhelm, so they can stay present without burning out or losing themselves.

Hi, I’m Michele, founder of Recreate Balance. With 20+ years in holistic health, I now support caregivers, trauma survivors, and sensitive humans through EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and nervous system-informed somatic care. I’m a QMHA in Oregon, trained in EFT PS1 + PS2 through ACEP, and currently in grad school to become a licensed clinical social worker. I bring my lived experience, trauma-informed lens, and deep belief in the body’s ability to heal to every session. Here at Recreate Balance, I offer tapping sessions, somatic wellness coaching, and gentle support to help you come home to your body—without judgment, pressure, or fixing. This isn’t therapy—this is support for your emotional regulation, stress recovery, and nervous system resilience.

Calm comes and goes.

Capacity is what carries you through.

It’s not about feeling peaceful all the time—it’s about being able to stay present, even when things feel hard.

Focus on building capacity, not chasing calm.

Calm isn’t always available… but capacity can be built.

Calm is a state. It comes and goes.

Capacity is your ability to stay present when things feel hard, overwhelming, or uncertain.

A lot of caregivers are chasing calm and feeling like they’re failing when they can’t find it.

But the goal isn’t to feel calm all the time.

Capacity carries you when calm isn’t available.

Letting go feels bigger than I expected. Massage therapy was a huge part of my life for a long time. It taught me he had to listen and had to slow down how to support people in their bodies. And now I’m moving into something different still supporting just in any way, the spelt like a moment worth marking. # careertransition chapter

I used to think feeling overwhelmed was just part of caring.

I thought that’s just what it looked like,
feeling stretched,
running on empty,
carrying more than I could hold.

But I started to notice this quiet sense of dread before showing up.

And that wasn’t about caring.
That was about overextending.

About showing up from pressure instead of capacity.
About giving more than I actually had to give.

That dread was a signal.

Overwhelm isn’t always too much to do—it’s too much of you being given away.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the difference between calm and capacity.

Calm is nice when we can find it. But life isn’t always calm.

Families go through hard seasons.
Kids struggle.
Relationships stretch us.

What actually helps in those moments isn’t perfect calm, it’s capacity.

Capacity is the ability to stay present when things are difficult.
To breathe.
To pause.
To not feel like everything is about to fall apart.

It’s something our nervous system learns slowly over time.
Not by avoiding hard things, but by building the steadiness to move through them.

Calm comes and goes.
Capacity is what carries us through.

A small update.

Over the years, many of you have known this space as Recreate Balance. As my work has evolved, so has the focus of this page.

Going forward, this space will be called Finding Your Inner Calm.

My work continues to center on supporting caregivers and people navigating grief, stress, and nervous system overwhelm. What has shifted is a deeper focus on building capacity — helping people develop the ability to stay steady, even in the hard moments.

Thank you for being here as this work continues to evolve.

Some grief doesn’t come with closure.

It comes with silence.

And the longer that silence stretches, the harder it is to care for your own life.

This is for the parents holding their breath between grief and grit.

For those who keep checking their phone, wondering what they said (or didn’t say), and still show up for everyone else with half a heart and full armor.

You are not alone.
You are not broken.
You are still worthy of joy, of peace, of building something beautiful for yourself.

Even in the silence.

Pause. Breathe.

Look around you and try this grounding tool:
✨ 5 things you can see
✨ 4 things you can touch
✨ 3 things you hear
✨ 2 things you smell
✨ 1 thing you can taste

This simple reset helps your body feel safe now.

🌿Healing isn’t a race, it’s a rhythm.

Tapping offers a quiet way to tend to what’s heavy. Whether you're holding grief, stress, or past pain, EFT helps regulate your nervous system and release at your own pace.

Let’s honor your process.

🌀 Feeling Off-Center

Your nervous system isn’t overreacting, it’s overprotecting.
EFT (tapping) helps calm the body’s survival response by working with it, not against it. It’s a gentle way to signal to your system:

“You’re safe now.”

Ready to return to your body? Let’s tap in.
