Happy Wellness Wednesday!
You may have been doing this all along and didn't even realize that you are Forest Bathing!
FOREST BATHING, or shinrin-yoku , in Japanese, is a practice that involves immersing oneself in the forest environment and using all five senses to connect with nature by mindfully engaging to connect with nature to promote physical and mental well-being.
Developed in Japan in the 1980s, it involves slow, sensory-focused activities like walking or sitting in a forest or park to lower stress, boost the immune system, and improve focus.
Key elements include slowing down, listening to sounds, smelling the air, and touching natural surfaces, and it is known to lower blood pressure and cortisol levels.
It is not about taking a bath in the forest, but rather about spending time in a wooded area and appreciating the sights, sounds, smells, and textures of the forest.
Tuning in to your connection with Nature and practicing mindfulness!
