Hi all,

We are looking for help as we go into Grassroots as a vendor! For those interested, we will have a meeting on Friday, 6/21 at 6:30 at Cornell Cooperative Extension in Ithaca.

Dish Truck is a non-profit, pollution prevention effort, based in the Ithaca, NY region, whereby clean durable dishes are provided to event coordinators, small-scale food enterprises and the general public to use in place of disposable dishware. (www.dishtruckorg)

We are looking for on-call folks to assist with staffing events and washing dishes, and we are seeking folks with the following:

· Able to lift 40 pounds regularly
· Good with numbers and counting
· Able to work patiently with the public
· Knowledge of commercial kitchen protocols
· Reliable transportation

Preference given to those with knowledge of Tompkins County composting guidelines, and ServSafe Certified.

We provide on the job training, a shift meal at the events, and aprons.

Pay is commensurate with experience.

Earth Day Ithaca 2018 is happening on…Earth Day! This year we will be commemorating on Sunday, April 22nd from Noon-7pm, again at the Space @ Greenstar. As history threatens to roll us back to the inspirations of the original impetus for Earth Day, this year we will be looking at how the arts frame, express and shape the environmental and now sustainability movement.

We hope to see the familiar faces we’ve come to know and love through the years through tabling and outreach, as well as welcome artisans with eco-minded displays, hands on activities and/or mini-workshops. We will be having traditional tabling from 12-3 with light, acoustic music. 3-5pm is open for presentations, including the annual Signs of Sustainability awards. Be on the lookout for your chance to vote! At 5 we’ll close out the day with the One Heart Drum Circle.

Dish Truck is Re-Crewting-Help Make Garbage Obsolete! Dear Community,

Over the past year the Dish Truck crew has helped over a dozen event coordinators lower their environmental impacts by using our volunteer services and displacing over 6000 pieces of garbage from the landfill. We have worked on events as small as 30 people and as large as 400, and our clients/events include an 80th birthday party, 2 weddings, Grassroots Festival, GIAC events and the President’s Sustainable Campus Committee summit at Cornell. We are already booking for 2018 and need your help.

If you are interested in volunteering to help make garbage obsolete, join us for a short 2-hour training session on Saturday, January 6th, from 10am until Noon at Cornell Cooperative Extension to prepare for the coming year. Benefits to volunteering with us include behind the scenes admission to great events such as Grassroots, a yummy meal from one of our many local food purveyors, knowledge that you are making a solid and positive environmental impact, shared company with like-minded people in a lively environment and more. Did we mention the hero's welcome we often get?
