I’ve been loving Dhanyaka Hima lately!!! If you have Pitta on the rise… any kind of burning or heat symptoms, this lovely drink may be perfect for you!

Heat flashes, reddish skin rashes, recurring utis or acidity in digestion?

Dhanyaka Hima is cold infusion of coriander seeds. Coriander seeds are cooling to the body while at the same time working to improve digestion and agni. Coriander seeds can be great for the urinary system also.

Dhanyaa Hima is a cooling tea. To make it you justeed to gently crush some whole coriander seeds before bed and soak them in some water overnight.

One part of seeds to 6 parts of water is the recipe. Then, strain it and sip it throughout the following day.

To improve the cooling benefits even more, place it out under the moonlight overnight so it can soak in the cool lunar energy.

Traditionally, you can then add a small amount of rock sugar, jaggary or coconut sugar to it. Natural sugars are actually Pitta pacifying so they help with the cooling. If you don’t take sugar, try a little stevia or monk fruit to sweeten it. It tastes lovely!

The infusion can also be used as an eye wash. Be sure you use purified water and sanitized tools if you try this. It’s cooling for the eyes, which are a seat of Pitta and tend to accumulate heat and redness at times.

Let me know how you like it!

I’m once again so inspired by this California Association of Ayurvedic Medicine conference ❤

Everybody was saying it was the best conference they have been to! It was just buzzing with vibrance, glowing people and it was like the modern version of a meeting with the ancient Ayurveda sages brimming with discussions and debates of the most brilliant minds and hearts on advancing the various important topics of how this healing art and science can contribute to society’s health.

I loved every single talk and experience so much. I probably wish I could sit at the feet for months or years and learn from every single one of the amazing presenters. I think so many people have no idea how much brilliance there is in this hidden gem and field full of luminaries often quietly advancing the cutting edge of integrative health. I’m totally in awe.

And how relevant this science remains over thousands of years! Ayurveda could not be more relevant and needed even now.

My favorite highlights I would say were the amazing insightful Peri-Menopause lecture, the talk from an experienced clinician successfully using Ayurvedic support alongside modern cancer treatment to minimize the damage and rejuvenate the body, the talk on AMA which was so profound because the presenter had such a depth of sanskrit understanding of ancient texts... and of course our own Freedom-ji’s humorous and intriguing talk on how the little known classical Ayurvedic personality types from Charaka Samhita show up in our social media feed.

And I can’t forget that rose petal leyham medicinal jam experience too!

Well according to lots of big fancy numbers data, they say Ayurveda is about to blast off since interest natural health is growing massively. Let’s gooooo!!!!!

Some Seasonal Ayurveda Tips!

Kapha season begins in the second half of winter and continues throughout the spring.

Kapha is a dosha or bio-energy described in Ayurveda as made up of the elements of earth and water.

Kapha has the qualities of being heavy, slow, cool, moist, soft, dense, stable and cloudy. It supports structure, cohesion, lubrication and even feelings of groundedness and compassion.

These qualities increase in the environment during Kapha season and they also tend to increase in our bodies.

If Kapha becomes imbalanced, this can look like an increase in feelings of sluggishness, weight gain and stagnation. You may notice more mucous or phlegm, slow, sluggish digestion or heavy moods.

Ayurveda offers wisdom to balance Kapha when it is most likely to go out of balance as the seasons change and can help us counter some of the common tendencies of spring such as more colds and allergies or weight gain.

3 Tips to help you prepare for Kapha season:

1. Move your body daily.

This is essential to prevent the natural stagnation and heaviness that accumulate during spring. Movement can be gentle or vigorous depending on your needs.

Even a few minutes daily will make a big difference. Whether you enjoy walking, dancing, yoga, Pilates, weight training, or gardening, daily movement keeps you feeling refreshed this spring.

Start where you are—no need to overdo it.

2. Sip CCF Tea.

Have you heard of CCF Tea? It stands for cumin, coriander and fennel. These 3 spices support a healthy digestive fire and are wonderful for keep our digestion strong during the spring.

Just get the whole seeds in bulk, mix them together in a jar and simmer a teaspoon of the mixture for 5 or 10 minutes. Strain and sip. You can put the tea in a thermos to take with you and sip throughout the day if you notice your digestion going out of balance.

3. Try Udvartana.

Udvartana is a a vigorous type of traditional Ayurvedic massage that involves a full body vigorous scrub with herbal powders or pastes. During Udvartana therapies vigorous brisk, upward flowing friction creates heat, stimulates the metabolism and cleanses the lymphatic fluid.

It can help with weight loss (along with diet and lifestyle suppports), remove ama (metabolic toxins) and detoxify and energize the system. It is excellent for Kapha types who are feeling more heavy and sluggish and is an excellent therapy for Kapha season.

Udvartana pairs wonderfully followed by an Aromatic Steam therapy. If you are local to Southern Oregon, you can schedule on of these with me through my website link below. Or try Udvartana by itself.

I'm really amazed when I check my panchakarma clients tongues before and after Udvartana. You can usually see a huge difference in the Ama/ toxins on the coating after a few or even one of these.

You can also try a home version of Udvartana by mixing some Jojoba oil in a container with some sea salt and a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Keep it in the shower and take a few moments to give yourself a vigorous scrub this spring. Move the strokes upward toward the heart.

Before I learned Ayurveda, I used to do this on an island beach with coffee grinds and coconut oil before jumping into the ocean.

That was so invigorating! 😃

This is a testimonial from a recent success story from my Ayurveda Consultations practice.

We didn't do anything topical btw that I recall, this improvement is all from natural diet, lifestyle and herbal changes.

"For years, I struggled with persistent acne, nagging muscle and joint soreness, and a constant undercurrent of anxiety that made everyday life feel heavier than it should. I've tried to get better sleep and fix my diet but nothing offered lasting relief.
That’s when I turned to Ayurveda, and everything began to shift.
Upon the consultation with Pranada Ma, she made it her mission to listen to my feelings and concerns and help me understand why I am dealing with these problems. She gave me options for my diet and lifestyle and herbal supplements to get on the right track of seeing progress and feeling better.
I started incorporating three Ayurvedic supplements into my daily routine. Each one brought its own unique benefits, and together, they created a synergy that transformed my health from the inside out. This all seemed to calm the inflammation that had plagued my skin for years. Within months, my acne began to fade—not just superficially, but at a deeper level that felt more sustainable and made me more confident.
These herbal formulations became my anchor for emotional balance. The adaptogenic qualities helped me manage stress more effectively, and I noticed a significant reduction in my anxiety levels. I felt more grounded, more resilient, and better equipped to handle the ups and downs of daily life.
It wasn’t just about feeling calmer—it was about reclaiming a sense of inner stability that I hadn’t felt in years."

Finished up my third week of Ayurveda clinical internships at the Health Center at Southern California University of Health Sciences this week.

It was amazing, I met some incredible Ayurveda doctors and clinicians and followed them in a busy clinic setting as well as work with many different types of clients and cases. I got so much out of it, whoch I’m sure wll benefit my own clinical practice and clients.

SCU “just so happens” to be in my hometown in So Cal so I’m visiting family too while I’m here.

We had the world’s biggest dosa in Little India in Artesia at Udupi Palace. I do miss having South Indian Dosas very much since I haven’t been back to India for years.

Although my Indian Uber driver turned friend and personal airport chauffeur informed me that there is actually a great dosa place in South Ashland where I live. Who knew?

On another note, fyi- I changed my instagram username handle to since I am sharing more about Ayurveda lifestyle and healing now and so people can find me.

Have a beautiful morning! ☀️

Pranada

Supporting others with Ayurveda is so rewarding!

Ayurvedic medicine is so effective once you really know how to apply it's principles to your life 😀 It's like re-aligning with nature's rythms, your body's rythms, the sun, the moon and your own consciousness.

I love how holistic Ayurveda is! I don't know of any health system so holistic and so deeply spiritual.

Hearing the healing stories from clients when I see them again is so rewarding! Often, I ask them how are their symptoms feeling that they mentioned the last session. Sometimes they don't even remember they had the issues I mention because they are completely gone! That is amazing to go from something really disturbing someone's life to finding relief over the course of a few months with simple, natural interventions.

We did a Greeva Basti for upper back and neck pain for a hardworking hairstylist yesterday.

Warm Herbal oils are kept in a dough resevoir over areas of pain, tension, stiffness and depletion. We started with a massage and energy point stimulation and ended with local abhyanga and swedana steam therapy with hot towels.

The result is a softening of those hard, tense muscles, strengthening for the spine, deep hydration and nourishment for the fascia and deep rest, relaxation and rejuvenation.

If you have upper back or neck pain or tension, come visit my new space in Medford, Oregon and try Ayurvedic Body Therapies.

I have a few openings still next week and I would love to see the glow of relief on your face after one of these super effective treatments!

I passed the National Ayurveda Medical Association board exam!

So now I’m board certified by NAMA as an Ayurveda Practitioner.
(in addition to from my school at Kerala Ayurveda Academy previously)

Yipee! 😃

The test was tricky! I have a lot of very large books now 🤓. I’m trying not to be intimidated by all these gigantic books, I have more too! 😯

It’s all so fascinating though. Who knew a few years of studies would turn into a multi- lifelong study 🙃. There seems to be no end to what there is to learn from Ayurvedic Medicine.

Luckily, I get to experiment on myself and get healthier every day. And I really truly enjoy helping people with everything I have learned and am continuing learning. It’s very rewarding 🌿🌺☺️

I decided if I have to grow old one day, I must become a community witch -ie herbal healer and wise woman to give beauty and meaning to the maturing phase. So here I am on another kind of journey and witchy adventure.

Another interesting thing I’ve noticed is how I understand so many things my guru Amma mentions in a deeper way now. She makes so many references to Ayurvedic wisdom that I didn’t notice it’s Ayurveda until I started studying it more deeply. Amma is so wise 🙏🏽.

If not for Her maybe I would not be in this adventure. All of my first experiences with Ayurvedic medicine were at her ashram in India. I’m so grateful 🥰 to all my Ayurveda teachers also. I’ve learned so much from each one.
