🌟 Meet Our New Director of Nursing – Steve Holbrook! 🌟

We’re excited to welcome Steve Holbrook as our new Director of Nursing!

Steve brings 26 years of nursing experience, including 20 years in leadership roles. He earned his BSN and Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Akron, and his Master’s in Health Administration from Ohio University.

Outside of work, Steve is a proud husband and father of three. When he’s not leading our nursing team, you can find him on the soccer field — he still plays in a men’s league year-round! ⚽

Please join us in giving Steve a warm welcome to our community! 💙

What does a swarm of bees, a flock of ostriches, and a group of ghosts from Ms. Pac-Man all have in common? They were the team costumes today at the Medina Meadows' Costume Party, of course! Lydia from Beetlejuice, Cookie Monster, and a contestant from The Price is Right were other notable costumes. Residents had creative costumes and festive hats during the party. Awards were presented to those residents who participated, and the award for best staff costume was determined by resident applause. The Ostriches from the Therapy Department took First Prize. The Nursing Bees and the Housekeeping Staff Pac-Man Team were also excellent! Candy, cupcakes, punch, and cider were the refreshments while we listened to some vintage Halloween playlists. Thank you to Lydia Deetz (our own Kim Poehls) for arranging the cupcakes, candy, punch, and cider. 🍭🍭🍬

Our friends and families sure are 'smart cookies'. Mel's family said let's 'bake some new friends' by taking everyone at Medina Meadows, both residents and staff, some oatmeal cookies, apples, and oranges! That they made a little scarecrow face for each cookie was 'crumb-believable'. Everyone was 'dough-lighted' to receive their sweet treat. Mel, you and your family 'take the cookie', oops we mean 'cake'!

The Duck Drop is your chance to explore Medina, meet neighbors, and help us return the flock — all while winning prizes from local businesses. Grab a duck, bring it home, and celebrate our community spirit. Let’s make this hunt a splash for everyone!

What a great night for Trick-or-Treat at the Meadows! Thank you so much to everyone who attended. So many children and families visited us this evening to Trick-or-Treat with our residents. The costumes were creative and fun, and we were impressed by how much thought and individuality were put into each outfit. And the family group costumes are always a hit. The residents very sincerely said how much they enjoy seeing the children; your presence is a gift to us!

Thank you to everyone who made this possible, especially all those who very generously donated candy. And thank you to Activity Director Kim Poehls for leading us tonight and working the refreshments' table: pizza, chips, punch, cider, and donuts. And to staff member Matt as the Centurian to watch over the door, the candy, and the revelers!

This was a good practice run, families! The real Trick-or-Treating is coming up in less than two weeks!
