The holidays are filled with excitement, new toys, and busy homes, but they’re also a common time for preventable eye injuries. 👁️🎄
A few thoughtful choices can help keep everyone safe this season:
• Choose age-appropriate toys: Items designed for older kids may have small parts, sharp edges, or fast-moving components that can pose risks to younger eyes.
• Avoid projectile or sharp toys: Toys that shoot, launch, or fly (even foam ones) can cause serious eye injuries if used incorrectly or at close range.
• Supervise active play: Excited kids, crowded rooms, and new toys can lead to accidents. Keeping an eye on playtime helps prevent injuries before they happen.
• Store décor and tools safely: Ornaments, hooks, scissors, and household tools used for decorating should be kept out of reach when not in use.
Protecting young eyes helps ensure the holidays are filled with joy, not unexpected trips to the emergency room.
Protecting young eyes helps keep holiday memories happy—and injury-free.

yEe strain doesn’t always show up as obvious discomfort.
Subtle signs like eye fatigue, light sensitivity, headaches, or trouble focusing are easy to dismiss; especially in winter.
What your eyes often need:
• Better screen habits
• Proper lighting and glare control
• Consistent blinking and hydration
• Lenses that support visual comfort
• Regular eye exams to catch strain early
If these symptoms sound familiar, your eyes may be asking for support, not just a break.
Florida winters still bring drier air, more screens, and subtle eye strain.
Even in Florida, winter can be tough on your eyes. Shorter days often mean more screen time, drier indoor air, and less natural blinking; leading to tired, irritated eyes.
A few small habits can make a real difference:
• Step away from screens regularly (especially during shorter daylight hours)
• Blink more intentionally to support natural tear production
• Adjust screen brightness and font size to reduce visual stress
• Add moisture to indoor air by using a humidifier
• Use eyewear designed for digital comfort
If eye fatigue is lingering, it may be time to check in on your eye health.
