Commissioner’s Task Force, Khairtabad Zone Team, in coordination with the Food Safety Officer of GHMC Circle No. 37, conducted a surprise inspection at A1 Sahara Gold Ginger & Garlic Paste unit located at Madhura Nagar, Borabanda, under the limits of Borabanda Police Station. During the operation, one accused, Mohd Abdullah, was apprehended for his involvement in the manufacture and sale of adulterated ginger and garlic paste under highly unhygienic conditions. A case has been registered and investigation is in progress.
During the inspection, it was found that the accused was preparing ginger and garlic paste using sub-standard raw materials and mixing chemical substances such as acetic acid and excess salt. The production process was carried out in unhygienic surroundings, with the prepared paste stored in open plastic containers exposed to dust, flies, and other contaminants, rendering it unsafe for human consumption. The adulterated product was being supplied in large quantities to wholesale kirana stores, restaurants, and catering services across Hyderabad. The police seized approximately 55 kg of loose paste, 4,275 kg of garlic raw material, 150 kg of garlic husk, 800 kg of salt, and other materials and machinery, all valued at around ₹4.5 lakh.
Investigation revealed that the accused was operating the unit using an FSSAI license obtained in the name of his father, Mohd Mujaheed, and was illegally profiting from the sale of adulterated food products. The apprehended accused along with the seized material has been handed over to the SHO, Borabanda Police Station for further legal action. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Task Force officials, including Inspector P. Raghavender, SI G. Srikanth, SI K. Madhu, and staff of Khairtabad Zone Task Force, reflecting the continued efforts of Hyderabad City Police in safeguarding public health and curbing food adulteration offences.
