What to Know

Pros:
✨ Catches letdown on the opposite breast during feeds
✨ Simple to use — no cords, batteries, or noise
✨ Can help you build a small freezer stash gradually
✨ May relieve mild breast fullness or pressure

Cons:
⚠️ Uses suction — it’s not purely passive collection
⚠️ Regular use can signal your body to make more milk
⚠️ May contribute to oversupply or a stronger/fast letdown
⚠️ Not ideal if you’re already dealing with fast flow, oversupply, or fussy feeds

The Haakaa works by applying suction, which can stimulate additional milk removal. When milk is removed more frequently, your body may respond by increasing production — sometimes beyond what your baby needs.

For some moms, it’s a game changer.
For others, it can lead to challenges like oversupply or feeding difficulties.

Both experiences are completely valid.

Not sure if it’s right for you? Ask a lactation consultant. 🤍

Breastfeeding is a natural process, but it’s also learned—for both you and your baby. Here are a few evidence-based facts that can help guide you in the early weeks:

🍼 Supply and Demand
Milk production is driven by how often and how effectively milk is removed. Regular feeding or pumping signals your body to make more.

🤱 Cluster Feeding
Periods of frequent feeding, especially in the evening or during growth spurts, are normal and help boost your supply.

🌙 Nighttime Matters
Prolactin—the hormone that supports milk production—is highest at night. Those middle-of-the-night feeds play an important role in maintaining supply.

💧 Nutrition and Hydration
You don’t need a perfect diet to produce quality milk, but balanced meals and adequate hydration help you feel your best while caring for your baby.

🤱🏽🌍 World Breastfeeding Week 🌍🤱🏽
This week, we celebrate the strength, love, and dedication of every breastfeeding parent, and the village it takes to support them.

As an in-home International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it is when support meets families right where they are, literally and emotionally.

Whether you’re just starting out, navigating challenges, pumping at work, or combo feeding with care, your journey matters! Every drop of milk, every late night feed, every tear, and every triumph is worth honoring.

This year's theme reminds us that "making a difference starts with support." 🩷🩵 Let’s continue to lift up families, listen without judgment, and build a culture where feeding with love, however that looks, is fully supported.

🤱Breastfeeding Myth: “If your baby nurses too often, you’re not making enough milk.” 😟

Truth: Frequent nursing is normal, especially during growth spurts, cluster feeding, or times of comfort and connection. It doesn’t mean your supply is low!

Babies breastfeed for more than just food, they nurse for:
💛 Comfort
💤 Sleep
📈 Growth
🤱 Reassurance

Milk production works on supply and demand. The more baby nurses, the more milk your body makes!

👶 Every baby is different, and watching your baby, not the clock, is key.

Have you ever worried about nursing too often? You're not alone.

Seek help if your baby is:
❗️Having fewer than 5-6 wet diapers per day after day 5
❗️Not gaining adequate weight after the first 2 weeks
❗️Always sleepy at the breast or not actively sucking
❗️Seeming unsatisfied after full feedings every time
