Important Re-Regisration / Renewal Update

1. The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician’s Board of Directors announced that 22-Resolution-06, or the permanent removal of limits on Distributive Education, is approved following the 60-Day Comment Period. This resolution, which goes into effect on September 30, 2022, applies to all requirements for continuing education, including recertification, state license, re-entry eligibility requirements, and refresher training after three failed examinations.

2. The above removal of limits on distributive education is for NREMT re-registration ONLY. Some state EMS agencies may have limitations and or restrictions regarding distributive education that may supersede the NREMT's new policy. Below is an interesting excerpt from an article in Backyard Vitality, a newsletter focusing on health, recipes, anti-aging, weight loss, and other useful information.

For decades, mainstream media has demonized foods like eggs and meats, claiming they cause all sorts of metabolic diseases. The truth is, they were wrong all along, and the science has consistently shown that in recent years (although pasture-raised is the most important choice for max health benefits).

But let's take a look at something even more specific in today's email...the relationship between eggs and diabetes...

A study performed at The University of Eastern Finland, and published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition studied the diets of men aged 42 to 60 and followed them for 20 years on average to find out if they developed Diabetes. The study concluded that people who ate an average of 4 eggs per week had a 37% lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes compared to people that only ate 1 egg per week (Hmm, I wonder how much lower the Diabetes risk would have been for people eating 10-20 eggs per week!)...

They also concluded that egg eaters had lower blood sugar levels on average. As a health researcher, this doesn't surprise me at all... eggs are almost a perfect food (especially if they're pasture-raised), and are loaded with appetite-controlling protein, a plethora of vitamins & minerals, powerful antioxidants, healthy cholesterol, and saturated fats (yes, HEALTHY fats!), and other nutrients that all help to benefit your hormones and control blood sugar levels.

In fact, other studies have shown that people that eat eggs for breakfast (instead of carb-based breakfasts like cereals, muffins, or bagels), have reduced appetite levels for the remainder of the day, and fewer cravings for sugar and carbs, thereby successfully losing or maintaining weight easier.

And speaking of blood sugar & diabetes... If you think that Type 2 Diabetes is irreversible like many misinformed doctors will tell you, then you need to read some of the proof below (BackYardGarden.com) on how to naturally reverse Type 2 Diabetes... Although eating "paleo" or even low-carb is a good first step, you’ll also see below other techniques on just how simple it can be to “fix” your diabetes, control your blood sugars, and lose all of that excess fat sitting on your stomach

Did you know that having a father or brother with prostate cancer more than doubles a man’s risk of developing this disease?

According to the American Cancer Society, the risk is higher for men who have a brother with the disease than for those who have a father with it. Additionally, the risk is much higher for men with several affected relatives, particularly if their relatives were young when the cancer was found.

Prostate cancer seems to run in some families, which suggests that in some cases there may be an inherited or genetic factor. Still, prostate cancer occurs in men even without a family history of it.

Do yourself and your family right by enlisting in regular assessments and screening to detect prostate cancer early.

Unfortunately, a new class of synthetic opioids, nitazenes, has recently been identified through autopsy findings and forensic crime lab analyses.

The nitazenes include butonitazene, etodesnitazene, flunitazene, metonitazene, metodesnitazene, N-pyrrolidino etonitazene, and protonitazene. Of note, metonitazene and protonitazene is 1.5 to 10 times more potent than fentanyl. The potency of N-pyrrolidino etonitazene is 20 times greater than fentanyl.

EMS directors are advised to consider that naloxone may need to be administered in larger and/or more frequent doses. Currently, these products are beginning to appear in the upper midwest and Mississippi/Ohio valley.

At a minimum, all EMS providers should be prepared and skilled to provide adequate airway management to patients with prolonged periods of respiratory depression due to nitazenes.
