There have been countless times in my life when significant positive changes I’ve experienced in my health have led me to believe that I’d finally figured out the whole “key to health” puzzle. But sadly, each and every one of those times was soon followed by a realization that I was missing some very critical health puzzle pieces.

There are an endless number of meritable eating programs and workout plans out there, but what has taken me years to recognize is that no matter how great the program is, certain key elements MUST be addressed in order for any positive changes to not be short-lived. Basically, THERE IS NO EASY FIX to creating a long-lasting life of optimal health.

Thankfully, I have also learned that while living a life of optimal health may not be easy, it is absolutely attainable! By focusing on your relationship with food, understanding the importance of creating healthy surroundings, developing accountability and circles of support for yourself, and prioritizing the establishment of healthy habits in your life, a life of optimal health CAN BE unlocked!

My mission is to help individuals desiring long-lasting transformation in their health appreciate the significance of making changes in key areas of their life and providing them with the support, guidance, and accountability to successfully do that.

And while I do feel that pre-packaged meal replacements can be a fantastic tool in the creation of healthy eating habits, one of my primary goals is to assist my clients in developing diets that are largely composed of healthy, whole foods.

For much of its 17 season run, I was a MASSIVE fan of NBC’s hit show The Biggest Loser.

Every single season, I savored “getting to know” the various contestants and learning about their stories. I loved becoming acquainted with each individual’s background, all of which held similar themes of pain, heartache, and hopelessness . . . feelings largely tied to the contestants’ histories with poor health and their (perceived) inability to turn that around. I empathized with the contestants’ feelings and understood their desperate prayers that the show’s beloved coaches, Bob & Jillian, would maybe, just maybe, be able to finally guide them to lives filled with better health, as well as freedom from the unhealthy foods that seemed to hold such power over them.

And I just KNEW that if I had an opportunity to go to the famed Biggest Loser ranch that I could finally “fix myself” once and for all and return home to that fuller, healthier life that I, too, aspired to have. But, alas, years went by and I never was granted that opportunity to stay on the Biggest Loser ranch, and I can honestly say that I am so thankful that I wasn’t.

All of these Biggest Loser memories of mine came to mind by a recent conversation between my husband and me. He mentioned an article he’d read discussing the many Biggest Loser contestants who had appeared on the show and how a large percentage of them had gained most, if not all, of their weight back after leaving the ranch.

Knowing what I know now, my immediate response was, “Well, of course they did!” . . . Each season they were taking a group of individuals, sticking them in an insulated environment where they (for a period of time) were not faced with the frequent stresses and busyness that comes with everyday life, and had them do extreme things, in terms of diet and exercise, that would be virtually impossible for them to continue once returning to their lives at home. Essentially, the Biggest Loser contestants were doomed to fail from the start.

It's taken me YEARS to finally recognize that the only way to truly transform our health is through the successful installation of healthier habits and the acquisition of tools that can equip us to face the multitude of challenges that come with a stressful, busy life that can threaten to knock us off course each and every day. Realizing these truths has made all the difference in the world in allowing me to enjoy a life of optimal health. A life where at the ripe old age of 50 😁, I feel better and am more confident in my skin than I was in my 20’s!

It's also the #1 reason why I am committed to helping other individuals learn the incredible power of habits and the ability those habits have to transform lives.

The New Year is 2 days away! 🎉 New Beginnings... Are you ready to make 2023 different?!

For so many years, I let overthinking get in my way.

I was scared I would fail...again

I didn’t believe in myself.....

I didn’t trust myself to try another program.....

I didn’t have confidence in myself.....

And then 4.5 years ago, I reached out to a coach who told me “I’ve been there! Trust me, I hear you! I believe in you! I have confidence in you! And if you fail one day, so what? Get back up and dust yourself off and try again. And if you don’t have the strength to pick yourself up, I will reach down and pick your butt up!”

Having someone in your corner . . . someone who shows up for you everyday, even when you feel like you can’t show up for yourself . . . it can make all the difference in the world on your health journey!

So, are you ready to fix your ponytail and try again? If you need a rubber band...I got you!!

Not another minute!!! If you aren’t happy with your health, that unhappiness creeps into so many aspects of your life. Our health is connected to not just how we feel on a daily basis, but how we react to the world around us, how we perceive our self-worth, and so much more.

This time 5 years ago, when I was over 60 pounds overweight, I felt hopeless, tired, and like life was just dragging me along with it. I was overwhelmed by the lies in my head saying . . .

“Nothing will work for me, I’ve tried it all before.”

“I’m in my mid 40’s, I’ve had 3 children, I’ve fought breast cancer, and I’ve been through menopause, so I need to be realistic and accept my body how it is.”

“I don’t have the time or money to devote to getting healthier.”

How thankful I am that I decided to step out in faith and contact my own health coach when I saw her posting her success story.

Today, I have boundless energy. I have hope for a wonderful life in which I am an active and joyful participant. I have dreams, because I no longer believe that the best parts in my life are behind me. The only regret that I have is that I didn’t reach out to my coach sooner.

Don’t wait.. do something today! I would be honored to walk this journey with you. I am here. You can do this! I would love to help you get unstuck. Life is too short! Don’t live your life wishing it were different - take action. Let’s do this!

It’s now been 4 years since I completed the first phase of my health journey, leaving me down 60 lbs and at a healthy weight I hadn’t truly enjoyed since my days in college. And, if I’m going to be quite honest, I sort of felt like I was “done” . . . that I had “finished the race” . . . and that I “had it all figured out.”

I couldn’t yet appreciate that, as challenging as the weight-loss phase of my journey was for me, the next phase of learning to THRIVE at that healthy weight was going to be equally, if not more, challenging.

I couldn’t appreciate that in many ways it was going to be more difficult to continue to say “NO” to those unhealthy choices when I was feeling so much better and feeling like I DESERVED to treat myself.

I couldn’t appreciate that once I’d successfully reached my healthy weight that friends and family were more likely to once again offer me scrumptious appetizers, drinks, entrees, and desserts, because I obviously “didn’t need to diet anymore.”

I couldn’t appreciate that the unbreakable “ZONE” I had been in for 6 solid months was going to gradually begin to disappear as my daily focus once more returned to the challenges of daily life.

And I couldn’t appreciate that I would, once again, and repeatedly, find myself in situations where I was “out of control eating,” stress-eating, eating because I “didn’t want to miss out,” and “feeling like a failure.”

But I also couldn’t appreciate that this second incredibly toilsome and lengthy phase of my health journey would be the one that would ultimately equip me with the necessary tools for me to not only maintain my healthy weight, but to THRIVE at that weight.

I was unaware that each and every time I stumbled and fell, I was getting up a stronger and more well-armored woman. A woman who was realizing that those perceived “failures” I was experiencing were simply key learning opportunities to gain the knowledge and tools to help avoid similar stumbles in my future. A woman who was beginning to understand that, “There’s really no such thing as failure, only feedback” and “Failures are simply our steps to success.”

And here I am now, 4 years later, and do I still struggle on occasion? You bet! But overall, even though in recent months life has been throwing some of my toughest life experiences at me to date, I can confidently say that I am THRIVING in my health! That at the well-seasoned age of 50, I am healthier, feel better, am more confident, and am more consistently active than I ever was in my 20’s!

I am also more PASSIONATE than ever about helping others find that healthier version of themselves that they may no longer believe is possible. To teach individuals that not only is reaching a healthy weight achievable, but that LIVING A LIFE OF OPTIMAL HEALTH can be a reality, no matter what your age.

So if you are someone who is struggling with your health . . . someone who perhaps has tried diet after diet, program after program, enjoying temporary success at times only to end up feeling like a failure once again . . . someone who is maybe scared to even get up and try again for fear it will only become further evidence of that failure identity . . . someone who believes that because you’re older, postmenopausal, and more overweight, tired, & out-of-shape than ever, that a healthy life is no longer attainable . . . I would love to talk with you . . . share my health journey experiences more in detail with you and hear about yours . . . and help you decide if you’re ready to stand up one more time and give that healthier life you’ve been dreaming of one more try!

Dressing! And Egg Nog! And Pie! Oh My!

It’s that time of year again. The time of year when we are surrounded by more wonderfully tasty (and unfortunately unhealthy) goodies than ever. Which can seriously put someone in quite the conundrum if “getting healthier” is near the top of their Christmas Wishlist.

And that is exactly why I’m running my 3rd annual Healthy Holiday Challenge! It is the perfect way to help stay motivated throughout the holiday season, while having lots of fun and earning the opportunity to win cool prizes along the way.
