My reasons are personal about this...maybe if people's heads weren't buried in the sand of ignorance and they took the time to understand, instead of judging and thinking it won't happen to them because they have the perfect family, life would be a little bit easier for people that do experience this! This hits close to home for me, for family and friends who live under this shadow. The days of 'it' not being talked about or being taboo should be over. In the most difficult moments of life you realize who your true friends are, and the people who really appreciate you. Unfortunately, most social media 'friends' aren't true friends. They will send you a "like" here and there, but in reality, they do not take time to read your status if they see it's lengthy. More than half will stop reading right here, or have already scrolled on to the next post on their page. I decided to post this message in support of all those who continue to battle with their mental illness. (Su***de is at an all-time high). Now, let's see who will have taken the time to read this lengthy post right through to the end. If you have read everything so far, please "like" it so that I can put a thank you on your page. More mental health awareness is urgently needed. Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean people aren't suffering. Please, try to spare a little of your time with someone who may just want to talk (about anything). Talking can help us all to cope a little more, keeping things bottled up just makes it worse. Most people will say, "if you need anything, don't hesitate to call me, I'll be there to help you" but will they? I believe a select few of my friends will post this, to show their support for those who may be struggling. You just have to copy and paste rather than sharing. I'd like to know who will take a minute out of their day to please write "done" in the comments. Thank you!

Today, I’m grateful to still be alive & kicking!! I realize that there are many people who’d love to trade places with me, but they can’t because they’re no longer alive. Check the obituary section of your newspaper for a list of them.

I’m grateful that my one & only daughter, Eva, had a wonderful 24th birthday yesterday!! She’s healthy, happy & looking forward to many more birthdays to come!! Someone lost their mother, father, son, daughter, sister, brother, grandparent or cousin today. So we cannot afford to take each day we’re blessed to see for granted!!

I’m grateful for my dogs which are healthy, happy & well fed. Somebody lost their pet today to illness, being run over by a car or was taken in by Animal Services. We should take care of the animals we’ve been blessed to have as a part of our families. They’re, most of the time, our only source of unconditional love. You’ll understand what I mean once one of your pets has died.

I’m grateful for the true friends that God has surrounded me with. Friendship is often taken for granted. They say that you’ll find out who your TRUE FRIENDS are once hardship comes to your doorstep!! I found that to be true a couple of years ago after I had my near fatal car accident. The Bible says, “To have friends you must first show yourself friendly!” I try to live by that every single day of my life!! Stay in touch with those people God has blessed to be a part of your life. Show them that they are special to you, before you find yourself at their funeral when it’ll be too late to let them know how much they meant to you.

I’m grateful to be able to be transparent with people I know & don’t know yet. Transparency is the only way for people to know who you are, what you’re thinking about, what matters most to you, & what makes you sad, angry & happy, among other things. You’ll find that people will respect you the more transparent you are with them! And you’ll help more people through being buck naked honest with them as well.

I hope that you ALL HAVE HAD THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE TODAY!! And if it hasn’t been that for you today, stay hopeful. For tomorrow is another day!!

This is the man I called daddy for 31 years of my life!! He taught me EVERYTHING!! He taught me how to play golf, how to take pride in my yard, how to do EVERYTHING I did to the best of my abilities. He was the example of how to be a loving father & husband!! He was the first ALPHA MAN I KNEW & he helped me to want to be an ALPHA & he helped me to cross those burning sands too!
