Feeling thankful.

Spent the weekend volunteering at , where we sorted very needed food (they had chicken! due to generosity of the Bay Area donations. Go California!) and - where we did habitat restoration on the bay with one of my fave volunteers (my son).

Grateful for these organizations and seeing all the people volunteering to make the world better. ♥️

Microneedling is not all the same. This was an alert published recently by the FDA about radio frequency microneedling also called RF. There can be issues with it due to the heat generated. Full blog on my website coming soon.

Know we do NOT use RF for our microneedling of the face and scalp on purpose- not that in experienced hands and conservative settings it isn’t safe, but we do everything to preserve the subcutaneous fat and blood supply to the skin and scalp.

Love this! I love seeing my surgery giving women their bodies (and confidence and core strength) back and the results last!
How you repair the diastasis of the muscles matters. I know my Bay Area incredibly active patients are going to test the repair, so I close a bit differently than some of my peers. Takes longer but worth it!

Saw this play Suff on the Suffrage movement. It really drove home how selfless and brave those women were.

I kept thinking how I couldn’t be a woman surgeon today - just 100 years later- without all the walls knocked down by the women before me. To vote. To attend my beloved Dartmouth College that was all male until 1972. To have a checking account. To the women who were the first in medical schools. First women surgeons. When I applied for surgery residency in 1994 there were programs who still bragged no woman had ever graduated from their residency. Until recently only 11% of surgeons were women.

I am so grateful to all the powerful women before me.

I am so grateful to all the powerful women I call my friends, fellow moms, colleagues, sisters, daughters, my Girl Scout troops. ♥️ just had to give a shout out.

Life changing. I just saw a patient who is now three months out from a tummy tuck. She is petite and her pregnancies really blew out her belly. The abdominoplasty (where I also fixed a large umbilical hernia) made an incredible difference for her.

She is just radiant. I am so glad to have been part of her journey.
