As we look ahead to Parkinson’s Awareness Month in April, we are excited to share an important date with our community. Please save the date for our 21st Annual Parkinson’s Symposium, taking place on Thursday, April 16, 2026. šŸ’™

We are honored to host this meaningful event, generously sponsored by Boston Scientific. This year’s featured speaker, Dr. Mark Krel, DO, FACS, FCNS, FACOS, from Community Neurosciences Institute, will provide an insightful presentation on Deep Brain Stimulation and its role in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.

We look forward to bringing our community together for education, awareness, and support. Please refer to the event flyer for RSVP details, and stay tuned for additional information as we get closer to April. šŸŒ·šŸ’™

Our National Park virtual travels continued today with a special visit to Pinnacles National Park šŸŒ„

Located in Central California, Pinnacles is known for its dramatic rock spires, talus caves, and as a sanctuary for the endangered California condor. Originally established as a national monument in 1908 by President Theodore Roosevelt and later designated a national park in 2013, it offers breathtaking volcanic formations and some of the most unique hiking landscapes in the country.

Our residents began the experience by watching a short documentary on the park’s rich history, wildlife, and stunning scenery. šŸ¦…

Of course, no ā€œtripā€ is complete without enjoying local flavors! Inspired by nearby Windmill Cafe, we slow-smoked tri-tip overnight and served it on fresh ciabatta bread with grilled peppers and onions, topped with house-made aioli. On the side, residents enjoyed roasted vegetables, classic potato salad, a crisp Cobb salad, and a decadent raspberry cheesecake for dessert. šŸ½ļø

To make the day even more meaningful, residents added another page to their National Parks memory books. A keepsake collection of all the parks we’ve ā€œtraveledā€ to together over the past several months. It’s been such a joy watching these books fill with memories, fun facts, and shared experiences.

Where will our virtual adventure take us next? Stay tuned! šŸŒŽ

Today we celebrated Mardi Gras with a special afternoon treat, homemade King Cake baked by our amazing Activities Director! šŸ’œšŸ’ššŸ’›

Mardi Gras means Fat Tuesday in French and marks the final day of celebration before the Christian season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. It is a time of joy, gathering, music, and festive foods, especially in places like New Orleans, where the holiday is widely celebrated. 🤩

King Cake is one of the most cherished Mardi Gras traditions. The cake is decorated in purple, green, and gold sugar, representing justice, faith, and power. Hidden inside is a small baby figurine that symbolizes good luck and prosperity. According to tradition, whoever finds the baby is said to receive good fortune and is often asked to provide the next King Cake to share.

It was a wonderful way to celebrate together and enjoy a sweet taste of tradition! 🄳

What a special day at our annual Valentine’s Luncheon as we crowned our 2026 Valentine’s King and Queen, Mack and Judy! šŸ‘‘ā¤ļø

Mack and Judy have known each other since 5th grade at John Muir Elementary, and now they are neighbors here at Park Merced. From elementary school classmates to Valentine’s royalty, what a full circle moment.

Congratulations to them both on this well deserved honor! We love celebrating longtime friendships and the wonderful connections within our community. šŸ’•
