Did you have Rachel as your midwife?👇🏻
Getting to know our midwife, Rachel Mast 🤍
Rachel brings such a calm, steady presence to the families she serves — and outside of birth work, she lives life with just as much intention. On her days off, you’ll often find her baking, exploring local coffee and pastry shops, strength training, or organizing (her husband says she should start a side hustle as a personal organizer, and we believe it!). She and her husband are also pouring their hearts into launching their business, Homage, with their first product being a seasoned beef liver powder supplement designed to easily add extra nourishment into everyday meals.
After a full day, Rachel loves to unwind with a long shower, a walk, or cooking a good meal. Her go-to comfort show is The Great British Baking Show — which feels very fitting for someone who loves baking as much as she does. When it comes to local favorites, she swears by what she calls “The Trifecta” on the Boise Bench: Wyld Child for burgers, The STIL for ice cream, and Push & Pour for coffee.
Something that surprises many people is that Rachel competed in jiujitsu — and that she turned her now-husband down the first two times he asked her out (they celebrate 10 years of marriage this winter!). She’s also a former gymnast and can still walk on her hands, which is such a fun hidden talent.
Outside of birth work, Rachel enjoys strength training, reading historical fiction, thrift shopping, and listening to podcasts about birth, fitness, and nutrition — though she also enjoys artists like Jaymes Young, Leon Bridges, Charlie Puth, Missy Higgins, and Joy Williams.
Above everything else, Rachel treasures her husband, son, and daughter. They’re her world. And if there’s one more thing she can’t live without, it would definitely be coffee and pastries.
We feel so grateful that families are cared for, supported, and encouraged by Rachel. She brings not only skill and knowledge, but heart, dedication, and genuine love to the work she does.
