A Joyous Look was established in 2002 and our staff has a combined experience of around 25 years. Roch'e decided several years ago that she would like to make an ideal salon that not only catered to the public as patrons, but to other cosmetologists that had a dream of being in a stable, professional career. She decided that the key to a successful stylist/client relationship was to ensure a successful stylist/owner relationship.

I try to keep my head down; it's not always about the before and after. The story is about the in-between. 💇‍♀️💫🎨

I do, but that doesn't help you because their in-between could lead you down a dead end. 🙅‍♂️

🍽️ 𝗗𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿. 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲.

Our 𝚁𝚎𝚗𝚎𝚠 𝚈𝚎𝚊𝚛 dinner was more than just a meal—it was the launchpad for a higher version of ourselves. Looking back at the photos and the energy in the room, it’s clear: we aren’t just dreaming; we’re designing.

🍷 𝚃𝚑𝚎 "𝙻𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚕 𝚄𝚙" 𝚁𝚎𝚌𝚊𝚙
The conversation at the table was next-level. We moved past the "what" and got deep into the "how." We shared our personal goals, from health milestones to mindset shifts, creating a circle of accountability that doesn't end when the plates are cleared.

🎯 𝙸𝚗𝚝𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚜 𝚂𝚎𝚝
We walked away with more than full stomachs—we left with 𝚌𝚕𝚎𝚊𝚛 𝚒𝚗𝚝𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚜. We’ve defined the standard we’re holding ourselves to for the rest of the year. No more "trying"; it’s time for "doing."

The first quarter was the warm-up. 𝚀𝚞𝚊𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝟸 𝚒𝚜 𝚠𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚠𝚎 𝚜𝚎𝚙𝚊𝚛𝚊𝚝𝚎 𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚜𝚎𝚕𝚟𝚎𝚜. To crush it, we’re focusing on:

⚙️ 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: Turning those dinner-table intentions into daily non-negotiables.
💨 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺: Using the energy from our gathering to power through the "mid-year slump."
🤝 "𝗠𝗼𝗺"𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆: Checking in on each other to ensure no one’s personal goals fall by the wayside.

The table is set. The plan is in motion. 𝙻𝚎𝚝’𝚜 𝚐𝚎𝚝 𝚝𝚘 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚔.

As a salon owner, January is our Super Bowl.

Demand.
Pressure.
Production.

There is no margin for reflection.
So I stopped pretending there was.
Instead of performing a rushed reset…
I postponed it.

𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴.
𝗠𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿.

Because a true reset requires:

Every year, I pray for a 'Dream Speaker'—someone uniquely equipped to help us execute the specific assignment for this season. It is always an honor when a visionary says 'yes' to this call.

This year is particularly special. While this speaker happens to be my cousin, he wasn't chosen for our history, but for his proven expertise. He is a master of his craft, highly qualified to lead us through this transformation, and I am honored he accepted the assignment

The "Yes" that confirms everything. 🕊️

I don’t take the title "Dream Speaker" lightly. It’s a seat reserved for the person I believe will truly move the needle for our community. When they say yes, I know we are on the right track.

This year, the assignment led me home.
I’m so proud to announce that Douglas Thames Jr. is our featured speaker. Beyond our family bond, I have watched him lead organizations and transform lives with such excellence. He is more than qualified to deliver the breakthrough we’ve been praying for.

🥹For a period, my business was defined by chaos. It wasn't because of the market or the competition—it was because of a fight inside me.

💭My MIND was focused on protection, telling me to close off and never give too much. But my HEART knew my purpose was to pour into others and that true growth demands vulnerability.
