You Matter Do It For Hunter

What a great night tonight at Lacrosse You Matter Night at Merritt Island High. MI and Cocoa Beach High came together as one team on the 50 Yard Line to show support of what we do and to unite on youth mental health. We provided purple You Matter sweatbands for all the players on both teams. Hunter played lacrosse (and football) on that field, so it’s a special place for us. Thank you MI Lacrosse for doing this each year not just for us but for all the players to remind them they all matter.

This Wednesday night Merritt Island High Boys Lacrosse will host its annual You Matter Night. If you’ve never been to a lacrosse game, come on out. It’s a lot of action, a cross between hockey (you know you love it!) soccer and football aggressiveness. JV starts at 5:30 pm and Varsity at 7 pm at MIHS against Cocoa Beach. We will be there with freebies as always. Hunter’s favorite sport was lacrosse. It was his happy place. So glad that lacrosse continues to host the annual You Matter Night to support youth mental health. 💜

Huge thank you to Longhorn Steakhouse Breakfast Fundraiser and their team for serving up hundreds of pancakes this morning for our first ever pancake breakfast fundraiser for Do It For Hunter. Better yet was seeing so may friends and family and NEW friends come out to enjoy each other’s company. We appreciate you all!

Congrats to Marissa Zucchelli for winning the Southwest Airline tickets!

$1,700 was raised for Do It For Hunter which will help purchase almost two su***de awareness benches slated for local high schools!

We love what we do and we love that our community is 100% beside us!

Anyone who is in the “I lost my child” club is in the worst club ever. But when you meet moms who are just like you, it helps the grief because it’s shared, and they get it. I always say I wish I never had to meet another mom who lost their child, but it’s always the best too. Today I met Kim Boss and Stacy Cartechine through Who We Play For when they invited me to set up a table at today’s free ECG event in Viera. These ladies and all the volunteers were amazing and filled my heart as they work to protect kids’ hearts. Kim taught CPR all day, and Stacy scanned kids hearts while I shared You Matter stress toolkits and talked to teens about anxiety and the 988 number. I’m quite sure Alex and Lauren and Hunter all conspired in Heaven for us to meet, and they were looking down on us today cheering us on.

We are blessed to be invited to join this special event happening this Saturday. Do you have a child age 10-25? Who We Play For is offering FREE ECGs (Electro Cardiograms). It only takes 5 minutes, and each ECG is read by a board certified pediatric cardiologist. Happening this Saturday 10 am-1pm at the Dept. of Health building at 2555 Judge Fran Jamieson Way in Viera. When Hunter was playing MIHS football the entire team went to be scanned. They do this for FREE Y’ALL! Your kid doesn’t have to play sports to have this done. Just do it. Do it for Rafe.
