“Everything happens for a reason”

We’ve all heard (and said) phrases like this. But are they truly comforting, or can they miss the mark?

After running a social media poll on common sayings, I discovered something important: what soothes one person might actually alienate another.

In my latest blog post, I explore what these mixed reactions reveal about how we support each other during hard times. It’s not about having the right words, it’s about staying curious, connected, and well informed.

Read it here! https://wix.to/g3ioNYV

Are there any well-meaning phrases that don't sit right with you?

We often lean on comforting phrases, but do they really help? A recent poll revealed just how differently people respond to them. This post unpacks why meaningful support requires empathy, not just familiar words.

The journey to Devil’s Bridge in Sedona serves as a metaphor for overcoming fear and embracing personal growth.

From a distance, the path may seem intimidating and even dangerous, causing many to hesitate or turn back, missing out on the breathtaking experience awaiting them. However, those who gather the courage to face their fears often find that the reality is far less daunting than they imagined.

In crossing the path, not only do they conquer the fear itself, but they also unlock a newfound inner strength and resilience. This realization is transformative, challenging them to confront their deepest anxieties and insecurities, and marking the beginning of healing and personal empowerment.

Much like the spectacular view from the top of Devil’s Bridge, the reward for facing fear is a profound sense of accomplishment and the gift of an unforgettable experience.

Thinking about therapy but not sure if it’s “for you”? Here’s the truth: Therapy isn’t just for crisis moments—it’s for anyone who wants to grow, heal, or simply have a safe space to process life.

Here are a few signs you might benefit from therapy:
✨ You feel overwhelmed or anxious more often than not
✨ Your emotions feel out of control, or you feel numb
✨ You’re struggling with relationships or setting boundaries
✨ You’ve experienced loss, trauma, or big life changes
✨ You want to understand yourself better and improve your mental health

Seeking help is a sign of strength. Just like we go to the doctor for our physical health, therapy is a way to care for our mental and emotional well-being. There’s no shame in prioritizing yourself.

If you’ve been thinking about therapy, consider this your sign. You deserve support.

During an initial therapy consultation, there are many questions a client can ask to determine if this will be a good fit for their specific needs.

Being a self-advocate is important and can also be an empowering experience for anyone choosing to embark on the therapeutic journey.

Can you think of any other questions you have or would want to ask?

Welcome February!

Who else took a break from social media or something else at the start of the new year? Did you notice any changes and would you do it again?

When you presence life through the lens of your eyes instead of a screen, the colors, sights, smells, tastes, and sounds are naturally experienced in it’s pure essence. The voice of doubt followed by the tendency to compare loses its power when we remain immersed in the present.

What would you like to experience in 2024?

Drinks that come with a message on the same day.

Great reminder to practice something that we often dismiss.

We tend to worry more about what hasn’t happened or what we lack versus what we have. Living with an abundance vs deficit mindset can change how you approach life and further guide you in a positive direction, no matter the external circumstances.

Pause, breathe, practice gratitude.

Did you know that perfectionism is most often linked to trauma?

The desire to have “perfect” outcomes can at times be debilitating, overwhelming, and lead to procrastination, stifled creativity, impaired relationships, and inner turmoil.

Outwardly, the “perfectionist” may appear highly motivated and successful but on the inside, they may be struggling with feelings of fear and shame tied to past experiences.

The tendency to strive towards “perfectionism” may be a way to regain control, specifically when other aspects of life are in disarray or unpredictable.

How do we strive towards balance, where great success is still attainable while also avoiding hurting ourselves (or others) in the process?

Seeking professional help can be a start, particularly in developing greater awareness and understanding as to how our tendencies may be linked to past experiences.

Setting the intention to work through the underlying emotions (fear, shame) can move us towards a path of healing. Changing our inner self-talk and the way we reframe “success” or “perfectionism” can help one become free from the turmoil and develop healthier patterns towards achievement.
