Keep your kids safe✅

• Heat injury can be very dangerous, so it is important that children start of with light exercises so their bodies can acclimatize☀️

•When in hot conditions, our bodies lose a lot of water through sweating, this is why it is important that children get plenty of fluids in, like water and gatorade🧃

• When it comes to clothing, try to stay away from cotton. Cotton tends to absorb moisture so it can feel heavy in hot conditions and make you feel colder in the long run in cold conditions❄️

✨Keep your child active✨

In these times of quarantine and “staying home” it is very important that we keep our children active!💪🏼

Try to reduce the amount of time your child spends in front of a screen and instead motivate them to play outside or take them for a walk/run🏃🏼‍♀️

The number of overweight children has doubled over the last 30 years! Children obesity can later lead to cardiovascular disease🩺

• Much research in recent years has refuted the myths associated with resistance training (RT) in children🏋🏼

• With proper training methods, RT for children can be relatively safe and improve overall health.🩺

• Proper training should involve a proper warm-up and cool-down.🧘🏼‍♀️

• RT should be done 2/3x a week on non-consecutive days, with 1-2 sets initially of 8-15 reps for 8-12 exercises.💪🏼

Around the world, many people struggle with diabetes. There are 2 main types of diabetes:

🩸 Type 1 which is insulin dependent, meaning, it can only be treated with insulin therapy. This type of diabetes usually appears in adolescence, it has no cure and is not reversible.

🩸 Type 2 diabetes is non-insulin dependent, meaning, it can be treated with lifestyle changes and/or types of medication other than insulin therapy. The onset is usually after age 40. This type of diabetes is preventable and can be reversed with good nutrition and an exercise program.

🔹Exercise and nutrition are extremely important to lower your risk of CVD. Men are more likely to die of a heart disease with their first sign or symptom usually being death.

🔹Evidence has shown that participating in a cardiopulmonary rehab program lowers heart-related death and illness by 20% and lowers risk for hospital admissions by 28%. @ Aruba

🔹Physical activity and exercise should be recommended and prescribed to all diabetic patients.

🔹Specific recommendations and precautions will vary by the type of diabetes, age, activity done, and presence of diabetes-related health complication.

🔹Benefits of exercise include, increase cardiorespiratory fitness, reduce insulin resistance, triglycerides, and blood pressure.

🔹Lastly, behavior-change strategies should be used to promote the adoption and maintenance of lifetime physical activity.

▫️Researchers have reported that hamstrings
strains accounts for 50% of all muscular injuries
in sprinters and are the 2nd most common injury
site in team sports!👎🏼

▫️Eccentric training has been used in physical
training, injury prevention and rehabilitation
programs.🏋🏼‍♂️

▫️Most of these programs have used Nordic
hamstrings exercise or yo-yo flywheel ergometer,
which have shown positive results.✅

▫️For sprinters, a 3-week program of eccentric
training combined with overspeed exercise
enhance power and running speed performance.🏃🏼

All of these muscles are essential for any lower body movements such as, walking/running/cycling/standing etc.🏆

While running, these muscles are heavily used and therefore it is important that as a runner you work on each muscle group separately🦾
