The State’s new Regional Stay at Home Order goes into effect on Sunday, December 6, 2020, at 11:59 pm for counties in the San Joaquin Valley and Southern California Regions. These regions have reached less than 15% ICU availability, therefore personal care services, such as massage in non-healthcare settings, will be required to shut down.

Please note that according to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Essential Services Inquiries, “Medical Massage is massage that is done based on a referral from a doctor or chiropractor. Medical Massage can be done indoors as it is considered essential as healthcare and therefore not under personal services. There is no requirement that it be in a medical office, only that it be done based on a referral from a doctor or chiropractor.” Therefore, according to the CDPH, massage may still be provided, indoors with modifications, in the Regions subject to the Regional Stay at Home Order, if it is provided based on a referral from a physician or chiropractor, and the county/city allows it. As the counties have the right to impose stricter requirements than the State, please check with your local county for their requirements.

Mariposa

San Benito
San Joaquin
Stanislaus
Tulare
Tuolumne
Imperial
Inyo
Los Angeles

San Bernardino
San Diego
San Luis Obispo

Ventura
Additionally, the following counties have instituted their own local orders which require personal care services, such as massage in non-healthcare settings, to close in the next few days:

Contra Costa
Marin
San Francisco
Santa Clara
