Christmas can be a lot for sensory systems 🎄✨ Try these 5 sensory activities to help kids feel calm, organized, and ready to enjoy the season:
Brushing / deep pressure 🧴
Use a sensory brush or firm “squeeze hugs” to give calming input (always with caregiver/therapist guidance).
Fidget toys 🤲
Pop-its, putty, stretch bands, or textured fidgets can keep hands busy and support focus during parties, dinners, and travel.
Heavy work 💪
Wall pushes, carrying gifts, pushing a laundry basket, animal walks, or jumping—great for grounding and self-regulation.
Sensory bins 🌾
Rice, beans, cotton “snow,” or kinetic sand + scoops/cups for calming tactile play (supervise for mouthing).
Sensory lights + quiet corner 💡
Soft lights, a cozy tent/blanket, and calming visuals for a quick reset when the day feels overwhelming.
Save this for the holidays—and tell me which one your kid loves most! 🎁🧩
