The Corrections Registered Nurse (RN) will provide inmates with routine and emergency health care in the Medical Section of a Corrections Facility and will conduct health histories on inmates.

When necessary, the Corrections Registered Nurse (RN) makes referrals of inmates to the staff physician, nurse practitioner, dentist, mental health professional, or specialist in alcohol and drug abuse treatment.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Contract

Day Shift, SICK CALL 8 am - 4:30 pm

Every other Weekend

OVERTIME

Correctional experience preferred but not required!

Responsibilities

Assure quality care by adhering to standards set by the physicians
The Corrections Registered Nurse (RN) ensures all medication is administered in accordance with standard operating procedures and as ordered by the authorizing authority.
(RN) helps to determine the need for emergency hospital care.
Assist physicians in medical or minor surgical procedures as necessary.
Qualifications

Must be a Registered Professional Nurse with current licensure
CPR, ACLS, and BCLS Certification
Acute Care Experience, OR 3+ years or Corrections Experience Preferred.
MUST be proficient in IV skills!

We are looking for a reliable Night RN 3x week to care for patients in a correctional healthcare setting. You will work under the supervision of a NP or Physician. The ideal candidate will be experienced in providing diverse basic care to those who need it while remaining patient and calm. It is a demanding job but also very rewarding.

Responsibilities

Medical observation

Unit assessments
Verification of day shift order enter, filing charts from day shift and pulling charts for the next day's clinics.
Assisting with set up for morning shifts Diabetic pill line and insulin
Triaging inmate requests to be seen
Assess and treat urgent and emergent issues.

Skills

Successful completion of RN license program is a must

Ability to undertake a variety of diverse care tasks and work in a multidisciplinary team
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Compassionate and able to handle stress

Observe patients under treatment to identify progress, side-effects of medications etc.
Monitor patients’ condition including fluid intake and output and compose patient charts
Assist ailing patients in daily necessary activities such as eating, bathing etc.
Administer injections, prescribed medications, enemas etc.,
Clean and dress wounds and assist with other basic medical care tasks
Provide emotional and psychological support when needed
Communicate with patients’ family or friends to provide advice, comfort and release instructions
