Impermanence tells us that whatever we are feeling or living today, it will change tomorrow.

When you realize that you will never get the same moment twice, you will live differently. Last year this time, I couldn’t grasp everything we were living I felt stuck in a vicious cycle and life and time was passing us by. Holidays were the worst, New Years, Valentine’s Day, St Patrick’s and in the middle of Lent I hoped we would be home for Easter but it didn’t happen.

The experience of being in the hospital has taught me to be more intentional. More present. More appreciative of the good and more accepting of the bad, because all of this too will pass. I catch myself blinking and holding my eyes shut as if my eyes were a Polaroid camera capturing the moments and feelings in my heart and brain. (Yes, i could take a picture too but sometimes by the time you get your phone out the moment passed)

No matter the season of life you are in, let this be a REMINDER that time keeps moving forward. Be present. Be grateful. Allow yourself to feel all of it. Because soon enough it will change.

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. Proverbs 16:3

I have never had a ā€œword of the yearā€. I’m familiar with the concept but I’ve always been more of a visionary and done vision boards and bucket lists.

Last year was different from all of them so my approach to a new year is also different…

End of 2022, we were gifted the with birth of Olivia Grace, and there has been a lot of joy, learning and growing but it started months of uncertainty in the hospital, multiple scares to the ER in the middle of the night, temporarily relocating to Boston for her next surgery and then finally after 9 months going home and starting our true home life with Olivia.

While I’ve been a mom for a little over a year now but an active parent doing daily parenting for a lot less. (Don’t get my wrong we never left her bedside and advocating for her but home life is different).

As I reflect on our year and plan for the new one I’m taking a step back from resolutions, bucket lists, instead I’m choosing a word I can identity with to set the intention for the year, a theme per se on how I want my year to flow and what my heart needs to most, healing.

So suddenly the idea of the word of the year seemed fitting. My word ā€œhealingā€, in every way physically, emotionally and spiritually. I’ve spent time defining what this looks like and I’m sure it will evolve as the year progresses. I welcome your input, tips, ideas, invitations, or even tagging along if you find you too need a lil healing. Here is my approach… (please swipe)

"Father, help me to keep my focus on You when the pain and hurt are overwhelming. Help me be faithful and see the good and blessings surrounding me. Please strengthen my mind, heart, and body, and heal me today. May the Holy Spirit guide me in peace and comfort. Amen."

It is with God’s grace, Olivia Grace is here.

A year ago this Advent season we were asked to light the first advent candle at , the candle of HOPE. The person who asked us did not know us or our situation which makes it even extra special, how the Lord works. And little did we know how special this candle and HOPE would be and how big of a role it would play in our lives this passed year. A year filled of HOPE and trust in the Lord to help our baby girl heal, thrive, go home with us after 4 consecutive months in the hospital after her birth and a 3rd surgery in Boston a few months later.

Today’s pink candle of JOY is a huge reflection of what a joy it is to be here witnessing all of the blessings the Holy Spirt has provided us. Olivia has been thriving post her last surgery in Agugust, her heart continues to grow, she’s slowly catching up on her milestones. She loves eating solids, boy did we struggle with passing the swallow study, thickening milk etc. And let’s not forget she will soon be turning one next week!!! Wooo hooo so much to celebrate.

Lord Jesus, fill my heart with your joy, the true joy that surpasses all understanding. Grant me the grace to share it with those around me. May your joy be my strength in every adversity I face. Amen.

Last year on the first Sunday of Advent, Pope Francis calls on us to ā€œawaken from our slumberā€ and to always be aware of the presence of God and to welcome Him in our daily lives.

Some things in life we see coming others we don’t. Where we started with Olivia to where we are is nothing short of a miracle, a testament that the Lord has been with our family every step of the way. And I’m so grateful that I’ve had an open heart to be able to see this, receive and live out my faith daily. (100x More than ever before on a constant basis)

Yesterday we had the opportunity to celebrate Olivia’s victories by doing our first Heart Walk as a Family.

Our baby girl has under gone 3 open heart surgeries:
1. Aortic Value Reconstruction
2. Norwood
3. Super Glenn

Olivia is proof that the Lord does answer our prayers. As I reflect on our year and this season, HOPE has been a big word in our journey excited for this season of Advent and journeying again with Mary as we welcome and celebrate our Savior.

Hi… I think I’m back… a peak behind the curtain…

I’ve always defined myself as hardworking, active, adventurous, curious, results oriented, ā€œa perfectionistā€, Catholic, with a passion for fashion. I’ve built my brand around those attributes, my career, my accomplishments and being a good person.

With 17+ years of marketing experience, I know about algorithms and brand identity and when I started this account I was very conscious of the ā€œbrandā€ versus my authentic message to the world. I’ve stopped myself from posting or sharing because it didn’t align with the brand or the picture wasn’t perfect.

The last 9 months have been challenging to say the least and to be 100% honest, I’ve questioned whether I should keep posting or close the account. I’ve prayed about it and I’m still unsure…. there is one thing I’m so sure of is the support of my Catholic community during these trial times, and my desire to share bits and pieces of my story with the intention to share with others that they are NOT alone in their battles.

I’m still processing, healing and mourning but above all I’m grateful for the gift of my lil fighter and all the graces, blessings that we have also experienced along the way. So the marketer in me, today adds one more layer to my ā€œbrandā€ I am a Proud parent, of most precious happiest little girl, Olivia Grace.

More to come…. ā¤ļø

Long overdue . This one was a little different with my new crew of Catholic Miami mommy’s who wanted to clean up and update of their clothes, transitioning from different stages of mommy life.

So much fun to purge, shop from a friends ā€œlast season’s collectionā€, upcycle, give consumerism a break by giving garments a second life and all the left overs getting donated to other fellow women in need.

Colossians 3:12: ā€œTherefore, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.ā€

Can’t wait for the next swap we are trying to doing them quarterly!

(Late post)
As I mentioned before I’ve tried to use mostly my clothes throughout my maternity. Why?

1. I like my clothes
2. Didn’t want to buy new clothes
3. It’s been fun playing in my closet and trying out new looks
4. Sustainability and waste… trying to work with what I have versus giving into consumerism
5. Spending more time in reflection, prayer than shopping

ā€œDo not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21

Happy 1st Sunday of Advent! šŸ’œ
Today was a special day, we arrived at church a little earlier than usual and were asked if we would light the first Advent candle. What a nice surprise and honor!

As pregnant as I am, I got super emotional by the request being that I’ve been really thinking and embracing this Advent to journey with Mary, preparing my heart for the coming of baby Jesus and our daughter Baby D.

The first week of Advent we remember the gift of HOPE we have in Christ. Loving God, we thank you for the HOPE you give us. Help us prepare our hearts for the Lord’s coming by being open to seeing the light of Christ in others.

I invite you take in this season to slow down and take it all in. Here are three simple steps how I’ll be slowing down:

1. Setting 5 minutes aside to spend in silence. No distraction. Sitting in silence opens us up to the presence of God
2. Lighting a candle. Even the tiniest flicker of a candle provides light in a dark rooms; opening our eyes to the bright promise of the Light of the Word
3. Paying special attention to the Scripture readings of Advent, specially prophet Isaiah who promises light in the midst of darkness

AUTHENTIC FEMININITY
is the combination of class, tenderness and virtue. When a woman possesses these traits, a man will naturally want to be more of a gentleman around her.

Last night, we were honored to participate in the Betrothal Ceremony of Juan & Juliana. This was a first for us and definitely a beautiful experience that has gotten lost in time. This was a nice reminder of what it is to be a modern Catholic, living in the present times but still maintaining Faith and tradition very alive. The ceremony was rich with meaning, providing a source of strength and grace for the couple as they prepare for the Sacrament of Marriage.

What Is a Betrothal Ceremony and What Does It Signify?

When a couple gets engaged they are signifying their intentions to get married. After a couple goes through a betrothal ceremony, however, they are morally obligated to get married on a particular date. In modern times it is not required to do a betrothal ceremony to get married in the Catholic Church. Still, modern couples opt to do the tradition because it adds spirituality and gravitas to an often hectic engagement and wedding planning period.

Congratulations Juan & Juliana! We will be praying for you!
