I invite you to take a step back and realize that many times the things we take for granted are firsts for our children. Theyāre often experiencing the world for the first time, and if we donāt stop ourselves, we may become guilty of explaining it to them rather than giving them permission to discover it for themselves. Parents, caregivers, friendsā¦please donāt unintentionally steal your childrenās joy or stifle their curiosity.
Is this how I would use a glue stick? Absolutely notā¦but itās also not wrong. š¤ Let them use their senses and explore the sticky stuff we take for granted. Let them smell it, use their fingers, and provide q-tips to help them spread it if youād like. There is no wrong way to use glue (unless they eat it š¤·š»āāļø), so long as the thing you intended ends up affixed.
So while the rest of the world may be worried about doing things the ārightā way, I invite you to let your child create their own pathā¦even and especially when it comes down to the seemingly little things. They have a lot to teach us, and more often than not, their ideas are better than ours. Donāt believe me? Hand them something new and unfamiliar and just watch. š
