Throwback to earlier this month when Jackson South Medical Center participated in a health fair at Rey de Jesus Church. Team members from Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson South provided a "Stop the Bleed" demonstration, which provides training to respond to a bleeding emergency before emergency responders are on site.

Do you know why these trainings are important? Injury where bleeding occurs can happen any day, any place and at any time! This training helps educate the community that when bystanders are the first on the scene, they are the best positioned to provide first care and increase a person's chance of survival.

We had a blast at last week’s health fair at Jackson West Medical Center, in partnership with West Coast University (WCU)!

The Miami-Dade community was invited to attend at no cost to enjoy activities for kids, and a variety of health screenings and educational sessions. Guests also had a chance to engage with members of the community, as well as WCU students, alumni, and representatives from Jackson.

We're still buzzing with excitement after the Miami Marlins hit it out of the park with "Jackson Day" during their final home game of 2023! 🎉

Over the weekend, nearly 500 of our team members came together to celebrate their dedication and hard work, all while enjoying the game and cheering on the Marlins!

Special shoutout to our very own superstar, Kristen Ribar, a NICU transport nurse, who stepped up to the mound and delivered a perfect honorary first pitch! ⚾🌟

On World Physical Therapy Day, we’d like to highlight the importance of physical therapy in our patient’s recovery process. Hunor Vajda, a 20-year-old from Romania, was living his dream as a data science student at the University of Florida when his life took an unexpected turn; he was diagnosed with type-1 diabetes, leading to severe weakness in his legs. What followed was a battle against acute flaccid mielitis, an uncommon neurological condition that affects the spinal cord’s gray matter area, that left him nearly paralyzed.

But Hunor's determination and the incredible support of his physical therapy team at Jackson North Medical Center turned the tide. Through Maxi Sky technology, a supportive system for regaining walking and balancing skills, and personalized therapy, Hunor made remarkable progress. Today, he stands tall, walks independently, and is eager to return to his studies and adventures in Gainesville this fall.

“To the Jackson North team: thank you for pushing me so hard, and for working with me so well,” said Hunor. “It was seeing their excitement whenever I made any progress that helped me get to where I’m at today.”
