MEET OUR FOUNDER & CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER - DR. ZAKIYA B. MOYENDA
Born in London, England (UK) with Jamaican heritage, Dr. Moyenda came to this country at the age of 4 and was raised in the blue collar city of Rockford, IL (near Chicago). Dr. Moyenda and his family moved down to South Florida in 1987 during his last year of high school. He attended North Miami Senior High before going on to the Florida State University to study Clinical Psychology. He would ultimately complete his undergraduate studies at the Florida International University with a B.A. in Psychology with minors in Criminology and African-American Studies in 1995. He immediately went on to pursue his MBA degree in Healthcare Administration at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA for which he completed with honors in 1998.
After completing his graduate studies in business administration, Dr. Moyenda began his healthcare career in the managed care (HMO) industry. He developed advanced competencies in physician & hospital contracting, physician relations, medical reimbursement, customer & patient-care satisfaction, medical & cultural compliance, healthcare finance and medical ethics. After working for 8 years on the business side of medicine, Dr. Moyenda decided to pursue his ultimate dream of becoming a doctor at the age of 36. As he put it, “I wanted to be closer to the action when it comes to helping people.”
