As temperatures drop, portable space heaters can help keep you warm. To reduce fire risks, keep heaters at least 3 ft. away from anything that can burn, plug them directly into a wall outlet, choose models with automatic safety shut-off features, and turn them off when unattended.

When temperatures drop, remember the 4 P’s of cold-weather safety. Check on vulnerable people, bring pets indoors, protect plants from the cold, and practice fire safety by inspecting heating equipment before use.
