It’s truly inspiring to see how, even in the most challenging circumstances, the medical community in Ukraine continues to learn, grow, and strive for excellence. At the Ukrainian Trauma Congress, I was reminded that our shared mission—to improve patient outcomes and quality of life—transcends borders and adversity. I learned so much from the remarkable work being done in trauma care and innovation.

Our study highlights the importance of cotinine testing as an objective measure to verify smoking cessation before hip and knee replacement surgery. Findings show that while most patients report reliably, discrepancies—especially in total knee arthroplasty—highlight the need for careful perioperative optimization.

Proud to share our latest work in the Journal of Orthopaedics:
“Array pin placement in robotic-assisted total hip arthroplasty: Optimal trajectory to avoid neurovascular injury”

In this study, we used MRI imaging to analyze the optimal trajectory for pelvic array pin placement in robotic-assisted total hip arthroplasty (RATHA), aiming to minimize neurovascular injury and maximize stability.

đź’ˇ Key takeaway: Choosing the correct caudal angle is critical to avoid major neurovascular structures while ensuring the distal tip of the pin is fully in bone.
