Pigeon Pose 🧡

This one helps us connect to our sacral chakra, releasing blocked or stagnant energies and stretching the hips and pelvis.

Begin on all fours in a tabletop position. Bring your right foot up towards your right wrist and lay your lower leg down onto the ground. Flex the right foot to protect your knee joint here. Left leg stretches straight back behind you. You can remain here with the torso lifted or, if it feels good, lower down to forearms or rest your forehead on the floor, a block, or stacked fists. Supports like a rolled up blanket or a block under the right hip can be nice here.

Stay here 1-2 minutes or as long as is comfortable before taking this pose on the opposite side.

Another good way to get connected with the Root Chakra and feelings of being grounded, present, and secure:

Get outside!
Spend time with nature and animals!

These activities foster a deep physical connection to the Earth and can promote feelings of safety, security and stability. Being out in nature helps in calming, anxious thoughts. Animals tend to have their own innate balanced root chakra. Have you ever known a dog to be worried about the future? They just live in the present moment, nose to the ground, paying attention to what's right in front of them. Spending time with these creatures helps us to anchor our own energy, which can lead to a sense of being grounded and more present.

It doesn't have to be a beautiful day, doesn't have to be for a long time, just get out and do what you can!

Balasana, AKA Child's Pose, is an excellent pose for connecting to the root chakra.

This pose deeply ground and stabilizes, enhancing feelings of security and well being, which is what the root chakra is all about.

Starting on all fours in a tabletop position, take the knees wide and the toes can touch. Shift the hips back towards the heels, and reach the hands up towards the top of your mat (or just straight out ahead of you if you don't have a mat).

Allow the forehead to rest on the ground, or alternatively you can rest it on a block or on two fists.

Breathe deeply here, observing the sensation of the breath traveling along the spine, the connection of the forehead to the ground (or your support prop). Rest here for as long as is comfortable, allowing a calm and safe energy to envelope the body and signal to the body that you are safe, you are exactly where you need to be.

If you find yourself with energy seeming unbalanced, scatterbrained, feeling that stressful fight or flight feeling, drop down into child's pose and see what changes for you.

Monday Mantra 🟥♥️
This mantra calls in the energy of the ROOT CHAKRA. This is where, energetically, our foundation and basic needs lie. Our sense of security, safety, and feeling connected to this present moment.

If you're feeling scatterbrained, finding yourself stressing on the future or what comes next, or having just a general sense of unease or being untethered, this mantra can help you get grounded and feel more present. Be where your boots are - right here, in this place, in this moment.

Other ways to get grounded?
- go outside. If you can, get your feet on the ground, shoes and socks off, and connect with the earth
- get moving. Maybe a walk, or even just some jumping jacks: get your heart pumping and reminding you that you are ALIVE!
- meditate with this or other root chakra mantras

So if you're wishing for some love, find ways to incorporate it into your day. Smile at someone. Pause and reflect before reacting. Check in on a friend. The love will circle back
