Nursing Home Week – Day 4: Spotlight on the Middle East!
Residents and staff came together to explore the culture, and history of the Middle Eastern countries. We learned fascinating facts about the region. Sampled Middle Eastern cuisine. And tried our feet at the debka – a lively traditional dance with beautiful sounds of Arabic music.
Thank you to everyone who participated in Middle East day! It’s awesome and fun to learn about other cultures together.

Day 3!! Today staff and residents enjoyed an Asian inspired stir fry for lunch! Shoutout to our dietary department.
Staff engaged in a selfie photo challenge, taking pictures of themselves completing tasks such as hand hygiene and wearing PPE, but also fun pictures with a resident, a nurse, nature, etc.
Residents got to enjoy several rounds of Bingo, which is a favorite and they’ve been very busy getting our garden going.
Did you know that Asia has both the highest and lowest points on Earth, a diverse range of climates, and the longest coastline of any continent.

Day 2 of Skilled Nursing Home Care week was celebrated with North America.
The residents enjoyed a visit from Chaplain Willie Springer from the Veterans Outreach Office in Berea and his group. They talked about Memorial Day and American Soldiers.
Staff enjoyed a few rounds of Bingo, sparking camaraderie and teamwork and we have begun our tapestry of handprints of both staff and residents.
Did you know that North America is the third-largest continent by size, home to diverse ecosystems, and boasts the world's longest freshwater lake.

At Southern Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, located 1/2 mile from Southwest General Hospital and 5 miles from Fairview Hospital, we offer a full calendar of activities that includes outings, recreation, crafts, and religious services. And there is always ample time for making friends, reading, or just talking over old times. This approach helps each of our residents participate in life to the fullest extent possible.
We are dedicated to meeting a wide range of personal and medical needs with care and compassion. That level of concern is reflected everywhere, from the attractive surroundings to the way we get to know and respect the needs of each and every resident and patient. We take pride in offering the little extras that mean so much and make life pleasant.
We believe that each resident’s family is as much a part of that person’s care team as the doctors, nurses, and other specialists on our staff. That is why family members are an integral part of our care-planning process.
We know that family members who have just placed a member in a residential facility have special needs too. To help them cope, we offer support meetings, pre-admission interviews, and personal meetings with administrative staff.
Families are welcomed and encouraged to attend social functions, or just stop in and visit. We consider you an important part of the fabric of life here.
