Introducing UphealOS: The Operating System for Therapists

For years, therapists have been asking for payments, scheduling, and EHR features inside Upheal.

We listened, but we also realized something bigger.

Therapists don’t need yet another bloated EHR built for “everyone”. Our private practice customers need a single, intelligent platform that understands every part of running their practice.

That’s what we’re building with UphealOS, the Operating System for Therapists.

It’s designed to connect everything — from first client contact to final invoice — helping private-pay therapists save time, stay organized, and focus on their clients.

The first phase launches this December.

What would you do with $7,500?

What if we told you that was how much most private practices lose each year — at minimum — to administrative chaos?

Our content team recently dove into the leading billing platforms for private practices, and their coverage kept bringing back to the same problem: reconciliation.

Your billing software automates submission but fails at reconciliation. Behavioral health practices lose 5-15% of revenue to this hidden crisis.

We're experiencing slower performance today due to a global internet infrastructure situation affecting our cloud provider.

Everything's working — just taking a bit longer. Your data remains secure.

A recent Dartmouth pilot study on , an AI chatbot using CBT techniques, has generated significant media attention. While participants reported symptom reduction and positive rapport with the bot, the headlines are missing the bigger picture.

Yes, these findings are encouraging early signals. But therapy encompasses far more than symptom tracking and feeling heard. What about coping skills for persistent symptoms? Autonomic regulation? Improved functioning, insight, and sense of self?

No technology today can replicate the nuanced, deeply human work of therapy — and won't for quite some time. As behavioral health professionals, we must challenge how media outlets sensationalize AI in mental healthcare.

The conversation around AI companionship deserves nuance, not hype. Let's discuss: What can therapists do that chatbots cannot?

We recently heard a really cool story from one Upheal user about how AI-assisted progress notes gave them their weekends back.

"I can rest, reset, and actually enjoy my life outside of work."

Therapist are humans too. That's what makes them great at this work. And all humans need balance.

We do our best work when we make space for rest.

Tomorrow at 1 PM CDT. Don't miss this. 🧵

Every therapist knows documentation is draining.

What if it could actually support your clinical thinking instead?

Join Jeff Kashou, LMFT and TPN.health tomorrow for a game-changing workshop:

Beyond Notes: The Golden Thread Approach
📅 October 8 | 1:00-2:00 PM CDT

Jeff brings 14+ years of clinical experience to show you how to connect your therapeutic modalities, treatment plans, and session notes into one streamlined system.

The result?

Less cognitive load.
More conceptual clarity.
Better client outcomes.

We hope to see some of you there!

Choosing how you’ll bill clients comes with some amount of moral injury.

It’s true: accepting insurance broadens your referral stream, and makes you accessible to people who cannot afford to pay for sessions out of pocket.

And, it’s also true that going cash pay saves admin and puts you in control.

What matters is making the right choice for your practice. And that’s rarely a black-and-white decision.

Just remember that doing this work — showing up for clients, staying in the field — will require that you’re compensated in a way that is sustainable and rewarding for you. It’s not greedy. It’s essential.

Clinical notes are meant to reflect the clinician’s thinking.

Shouldn’t they actually sound like them, then?

Note Personalization — one of our most-requested features — is here. And, the early feedback is really, really exciting.

Clinicians are having Upheal AI learn their writing style, ensuring future note reflect their own clinical voice. The more they edit, the more the AI adapts to their clinical and editorial style.

This is more intelligent admin in action:

🧠 Learning from the clinician, continuously
⌛ Reducing the time spent writing and editing
👩‍💻 Keeping the clinician in control of their notes

"We need to talk about real, systemic solutions that allow therapists to do the work they are meant to do." -Ted Faneuff, LISW-S, LMSW, LCSW

Our clinical leaders (like Ted!) recently surveyed over 500 therapists using AI tools in their practice.

🫴 87% said they were more emotionally available to clients in session

😮‍💨 82% reported AI helped reduce feelings of burnout and exhaustion

😶‍🌫️ 91% said AI reduced the mental effort required to administer care

🤔 86% said that the time saved allowed them to be more engaged or reflective

The conversation about AI in therapy has centered around AI as a replacement for care. But that's the wrong solution for the wrong problem.

Behavioral health care isn't strained because the care clinicians provide isn't enough.

We need to solve for the systemic dysfunctions that are at the root cause of access issues, including clinician burnout and moral injury.

You provided excellent care. Your client made genuine progress. But your notes didn't speak the language that automated review systems understand.

Mental health claim denials have surged 83% from pre-pandemic levels—and audits are intensifying alongside payer scrutiny.

Compliance Checker analyzes your documentation against real payer standards from Aetna and Optum, identifying specific gaps before submission. No more reverse-engineering compliance from rejection letters.

Watch Jeff Kashou, LMFT demonstrate how documentation uncertainty transforms into audit-ready confidence.
