"My name is Hemali Kane, founder of Hem's Harmony, and I am a Middletown, DE.- based artist specializing in dot mandala and abstract painting. My artistic passion was cultivated from a young age by my father, a talented artist himself. Growing up, I was mesmerized by mandalas and henna (mehndi) seen at Indian festivals and celebrations. This early inspiration led to filling countless notebooks with intricate designs and explore henna on paper and canvas.
In 2020, I discovered dot painting and, during the lockdown, dedicated myself to mastering the technique. Working with acrylic paint, I have since created striking, colorful pieces on diverse surfaces, including canvas, wood, and my own crafted gypsum cement items like rocks and tealight holders. My artwork blends dot mandalas with abstract styles to produce unique and beautiful creations.
Inspired by everything from conversations with family to my Hindu faith, my subjects include spiritual symbols, nature, animals, and florals. My process begins with inspiration and a chosen surface, followed by research on Pinterest to spark my creativity. I am currently developing an art series centered around spiritual symbols and upcoming holidays and hopes to one day exhibit my work in galleries across Delaware.
