And if that doesn’t work CALL ME - I’m here to tell you - you can absolutely change how you look, how you move and how you feel.
It may not be fast.
It may not be pretty.
But there’s no magic pill, potion or routine that replaces the w o r k.

…oh sorry that was for me but if it helps you, yay 😉

My favorite natural remedies for GI issues 🍃

Did you know that heartburn and reflux is typically not result of too much stomach acid (like we've been told), but a result of not enough stomach acid?

Hydrochloric acid declines as we age and there are gut bugs out there that feed off of our HCL and compromise production. So squelching stomach acid isn't the answer - you want to encourage it (so food gets broken down, doesn't reflux back up).

If you're struggling with gut issues I recommend doing a stool test - my go-to is the GI Map , but here's what can help in while you're figuring it out:

Digestive Bitters - relieves gas & bloating and even encourages HCL production.

Apple Cider Vinegar - dilute a tbsp in water before a meal and not only will it help with HCL production, but it will help balance blood sugar and reduce reflux.

Aloe Vera Juice - the plant contains compounds called anthraquinones which have a laxative effect. Start low and go slow. It also contains vitamin C and has also shown to help balance blood sugar.

Triphala - I keep this in my travel bag and take up to 3 capsules at bedtime. This Ayurvedic herbal formula is super gentle and effective.

Saccharomyces Boulardii - one of the most studied strains of probiotics. It's super effective for IBS type symptoms. I like to keep it on hand (along with charcoal) for any gut bugs or food poisioning (that always seems to happen in the middle of the night)🙄

If you're struggling with gut issues, don't suffer, there are things you can do to get to the root cause. Message me and I can share lots of resources!✨

Raise your hand if you’ve experimented with lowering carbs and realized your life is much happier (and people like you more) with them in your life 🙋🏻‍♀️

⚠️ Cutting carbs is never the answer.

Some people thrive on a super low carb ketogenic diet, but most do not. Especially women.

It’s so common for women to cut carbs in an effort to lose weight and this can backfire - poor sleep, low energy, menstrual cycle irregularities and PMS are common complaint.

Test different carbs and find what works best for your body. I feel best eating root veggies, some white rice, potatoes and berries. Many people respond to rice or potatoes like eating a spoonful of sugar. The key is to know what works for you.

Look at the macronutrient breakdown of your meals, how well are you balancing carbs with proteins and fats?

A good place to start::
⏱ timing - focus on protein + fat for the first half of the day and add carbs into dinner - this can help with mood and sleep.

📝 quantity - log your day of food into a tracker and aim for a starting around 50-75g of carbs and add/subtract 5g a day to dial in where you feel your best (again, this can fluctuate based on your exercise, mood, cycle, etc).

Getting macros in balance can take a little work, but once you find your sweet spot you’ll find it was worth the effort!

I’m a huge fan of carb cycling. Reach out if you need help getting started💫

I love it when mainstream media talks about IF!

But... optimal range of A1c is 4.6-5.5% or 25-35mmol/mol. fyi - there is a risk to A1c being too low.

"If it’s tested every few months then a normal HbA1c target is below 48mmol/mol"

It’s all too important for people with type 2 diabetes to monitor their blood sugar levels – but a diet relying on intermittent fasting also cuts body weight and keeps symptoms at a minimum.

Along with resolutions comes all of the crap in the media around diet and exercise programs and get-healthy-quick programs.

Here's the thing. Being healthy is a year round process -- it's not about perfection, just consistency.

It's about figuring out *your* TOOLS for healthy living, not someone else's RULES for losing weight, burning fat {{fill in the blank}}.

When you find tools that fit your lifestyle and routines and don't make you feel restricted, punished and sad, you can stick with it because it's not a short term fix.

When your toolbox is filled with things that support your body and long term health you can::
🧰 go through a season where self care doesn't happen
🧰 go on vacation and eat all the fun food & drinks
🧰 deal with stressful stages of life
..and get back to the daily habits that you know will help you look and feel your best.

Rules can help you get started, just be sure to allow for personal variations that allow you to honor the season of life you're in.

Helping others create healthy tools is what I love most about what I do.

What are your favorite tools? Let’s share!!
