Ayurveda & Yoga form the ultimate healing
Akshata Makkaru graduated with Doctor of Ayurveda degree from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, India and received a Masters degree in Healthcare Administration from California State University. Akshata is also a certified Yoga teacher. She aims to bring a unique sense of empowerment to each of her classes. Through asanas, mindfulness and stress management techniques her goal is to have her students leave each class feeling energized and rejuvenated. She incorporates moral stories, games in her themed yoga classes to make kid’s to build interest in yoga.
She has been teaching yoga since 2010 after receiving "Yoga Instructor Certification and authorization to conduct a stress management session from SVYASA University Bangalore in May 2010, she has taught yoga at a hospital in India and at social circles in the Bay Area. She served both adults and children, in creating syllabus, conducting workshops for Amazon IT professionals, giving talks on Women’s Summit, regarding Body & Food Incompatibility
Equipped with the knowledge of both Ayurveda and Yoga in her treasure chest, she loves to be close to nature, and grow her own vegetable garden for her cooking recipes, thus avoiding the popular processed food prevalent in today’s markets. This interest made her conduct small camps for children and teach them tidbits of gardening in small doses with hands-on activities.
Her aim is to help the future generations embrace healthy habits of exercise and nutrition, by learning about the nature around them, practice yoga and consume naturally grown food to lead fruitful lives and mitigate their negative impact on global warming.
