One of the most common panicked questions I get from new parents is about why their baby suddenly wants to eat constantly for hours at a time.

👶 This is often called cluster feeding and it is very common
📈 It usually happens during growth spurts
🥛 It signals your body to increase milk production
💤 It frequently happens in the evenings or right before a longer stretch of sleep

It is exhausting but often a sign your baby is doing exactly what they need to do to grow. Christmas Eve is a day filled with anticipation, warmth, and the closeness of family. It’s a time when we pause to reflect on the gifts we’ve been given, and today, my greatest gift has been the opportunity to serve this incredible community.

For over 25 years as a nurse and more than a decade in maternal care, I have had the profound privilege of witnessing the strength and love of mothers. Starting Lotus Lactation was a dream born out of a desire to support that journey, and I am just overflowing with gratitude for the people of Pensacola.

To the families who have welcomed me into their lives, to everyone who has recommended my services to a friend, and to every parent who has simply reached out with a question—thank you.

Both can be true.

Breastfeeding tip: If feeds feel uncomfortable, try bringing baby to your breast instead of leaning down to baby. A small position change can make a big difference with latch and comfort.
