Healing happens in community. Hear from one of our drum circle participants—a program that creates space for connection and hope. At our Grief Resource Center, we also offer short-term counseling, support groups, wellness activities, and more—all free of charge. Your gift before December 31 ensures these vital services continue for those who need them most.

"I want to be a better caregiver next year. I do not think that I did my share in the last couple of years, and I do not feel good about it. I am the youngest child with four older siblings. They do literally everything. It’s as though they think I am incapable of doing anything for mom. When I offer help, they say that they have it covered. I fear that they still think I am a baby and may someday resent that I did nothing. I do not want to have a battle about this. Just seeking some advice on how to handle the siblings."

Reminder: there are only 5 days left to make your 2025 tax-deductible gift! ā°

This is the final window to secure full 2025 tax deductibility on charitable gifts. Tax rules change in 2026, reducing benefits for many donors — but a gift made by December 31 still qualifies under the more favorable 2025 guidelines.

Hospice care is about more than medical support, it’s about dignity, love, and connection. Recently, that came full circle in a touching way.

Alyssa, one of our volunteers, began making blankets to donate to a local organization. What she didn’t expect was that this simple act of service would lead her back to a place that had deeply impacted her family. Horizon had cared for her grandmother last August.

ā€œHorizon was such a godsend during that time. I’m so excited to give back, even just a fraction of what they gave me.ā€

Today, Alyssa honors her grandmother’s memory through the blankets she creates.

Stories like Alyssa’s remind us why your support matters. Your gift helps us provide compassionate care and create moments of love and dignity for families when they need it most.

The staff at our Kathy Hospice recently celebrated Rod's 65th birthday! šŸŽ‰

Rod had one special request: crispy fried chicken. Our Hospice Manager, Chris, made it happen by picking up a delicious meal of chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes with gravy, and a biscuit from a local restaurant. Rod enjoyed every bite!

"The big dilemma for my 90-year-old mother at this time of year is what to give her children and grandchildren for Christmas. She does not have a lot of extra money, and she has 12 grandchildren, five children, and four daughters/sons-in-law. Mom cannot easily get out for shopping trips anymore. She also cannot really afford to buy 21 gifts. She is living on Social Security primarily. She just gets by each month. I know that it is stressing her to celebrate with family and not be able to participate fully. I tell her that it does not make a difference, though I see sadness in her when we open gifts. Please help me with some ideas that I can give her, to help make this holiday season more joyous for her."

We recently held a reception to honor Deb Gorman with a Memorial Rock, now placed in our Memorial Monument at Horizon's main office. Deb served as a Grief Resource Center Assistant for several years before her passing in February. She brought incredible warmth to the GRC and was a devoted Badgers and Packers fan.

During the reception, Deb’s family, along with Horizon employees and volunteers, shared their favorite memories of her. Her family selected a special spot on the monument for the rock to be placed.

A big thank you to Horizon volunteers Lauren, Briana, and Dan for preparing delicious treats for everyone to enjoy!
