Today is Martin Luther King Day.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. used the story of the Good Samaritan to challenge us toward radical love and justice. He reminded us that being a neighbor means helping anyone in need, no matter their race or background. King called for transforming the entire "Jericho Road" of systemic injustice, not just patching up victims. He highlighted the Samaritan's reversal of the question from "What will happen to me?" to "What will happen to him if I don't help?" and connected it to civil rights struggles, like supporting striking sanitation workers, to challenge societal indifference and demand systemic change beyond mere charity.
