April is also Parkinson’s Awareness Month 🩶🌹

As foot nurses, we see firsthand how Parkinson’s disease can impact mobility and foot health. Parkinson’s often causes stiffness, tremors, and balance issues, all of which affect how patients walk and care for their feet.

👣 Why foot care matters in Parkinson’s:

▪️Maintaining foot health helps improve balance and prevent falls.
▪️Proper footwear and regular foot checks can ease discomfort.
▪️Early attention to foot problems supports overall mobility and independence.

This month, let’s raise awareness about Parkinson’s and the vital role foot care plays in enhancing quality of life for those living with it.

If you or a loved one has Parkinson’s, don’t hesitate to reach out for foot health advice — small steps make a big difference! 💜

April is National Foot Health Month! We are spreading awareness to local physicians in our community. Many are unaware that podiatry no longer provides routine footcare. We want to partner with dermatology, podiatry, primary care, diabetic educators etc to promote health and mobility.
On a mission to save limbs and lives.

👣 When was the last time you checked your loved one’s feet? If they have dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease, foot care can easily be overlooked…but it’s so important. 💜

People with dementia or AD often forget or struggle to communicate discomfort, which means foot problems can go unnoticed and untreated. This can lead to pain, infections, and mobility issues that impact their quality of life.

Here are some common foot and nail problems that people with dementia or AD are at risk for:

☑️ Corns and calluses from ill-fitting shoes or lack of foot care
☑️ Ingrown toenails causing pain and infection
☑️ Fungal infections like athlete’s foot or nail fungus due to poor hygiene
☑️ Ulcers or sores from unnoticed pressure or injury
☑️ Dry, cracked skin that can become painful or infected
☑️ Swelling or redness indicating circulation problems or infection

Regular foot checks can help catch these issues early and keep your loved one comfortable and safe. If you notice anything unusual, don’t hesitate to seek professional care.

At The Foot Nurse, we understand the special needs of those with dementia and are here to support them every step of the way. 🩺🙌🏻

🚨 Important for Diabetic Patients: Why traditional nail salons can be risky for your feet 🚨

If you have diabetes, your foot care needs extra caution. Traditional nail salons may unknowingly put you at risk. Here’s why:

🔥 Hot water soaks at many salons can cause burns or skin damage, especially if you have neuropathy (reduced sensation in your feet). You might not feel the heat until it’s too late.

✂️ Cuticle trimming is common in salons, but cuticles are your body’s natural barrier protecting your nails from infection. Cutting them can create an entry point for harmful bacteria.

Because diabetes affects circulation and healing, even small injuries can lead to serious infections or ulcers.

At The Foot Nurse, we provide safe, gentle foot care designed specifically for diabetic feet—using sterile tools and proper techniques to protect your health.

👣 Your feet deserve expert care. Visit our website or give us a call to learn more and schedule your appointment today.

Protect your feet. Protect your health. 💜
