Manny’s is ranked one of the top ten steakhouses in the United States. Their beef is America made from their own bull. It’s genetically verified and hormone free. Most of the cuts are dry aged to create a tender cut and concentrate the flavor.

I recommend the filet mignon with bernaise sauce. The mashed potatoes and mac and cheese are delicious parings for your dinner that won’t leave disappointed.

Preparing for next weeks class Swap this for that

Tuesday, October 26th 10:00am - 10:30am at the Bisman Community Food Co-op.

Check my events page for more details at

www.harmonywithJessica.com

We are going to take an in-depth look at products and the ingredient labels of common processed items that we find in our homes.

We will review side effects that these chemically laden products create and I will recommend products that are closer to nature but won’t leave you or your family disappointed with the quality or flavor.

I hope you can make it to class but if you can’t I will publish a list of some of my favorite products to swap next time you at the store for a healthier you.

In today's class at the Bisman Food Co-op we taste tested and discussed how to prepare Bone Broth. Some benefits of sipping broth each day are...

1) Rich in vitamins and nutrients
2) Can aid the digestive system
3) Can improve overall joint health
4) Can help fight inflammation which can be a culprit for many diseases
5) Great source of collagen to help with glowing healthy skin

Where to get bones?
Typically I have bones left over when my family eats meat. I freeze them until they are needed. But most butchers sell them or you can buy them from the farmers direct.

If you are in the Bismarck area Jenna Vanhorne at https://www.facebook.com/PDRanch/ sells bones.

Below is the recipe I use. If you would like a printed copy I have some at the https://bismanfoodcoop.coop by the bulk spice rack.

This recipe doesn't have to be followed exactly.

Harmony’s Bone Broth
Chicken, Turkey, Beef, or Ham Bones
8 cups of water
1/4 cup of cabbage
1/8 cup of diced yellow onion
1/2 tsp of ginger root
1/2 cup of carrots
1/2 cup of celery
1-2 cloves of garlic
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp of sea salt

The Spice Sachet:
Bay Leaf
1/2 tsp of thyme
1/2 tsp of oregano
1/2 tsp of Basil

Directions: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Chop vegetables into chunks and add to the stock pot. Sprinkle salt and pepper in the water and form a sachet with the remaining spices.

Simmer for 1 hour if you prefer thinner broth add 2-4 cups of water to the pot or bring the water level back up to where it was originally. Simmer one more hour.
Strain the vegetables from the broth using a bucket and strainer.
Cool broth as quickly as possible.

Store broth in the fridge for a week or store in the freezer for 3 months
You can also can it!

The Butterhorn210 and their amazing Butterhorns. They are soft, sweet and salty when you add toppings. I don’t think I had a clear favorite betwen the pear jam, cinnamon butter, or vanilla icing.

Come on out...The soup is on...Literally, I just started to make the bone broth. What's better then eating soup, while you listen to good music when all the proceeds go to the Heavens Helpers Soup Cafe?

You do not need to be a member to attend or shop at the co-op, everyone is always welcome.
