High performers tend to share similar genetic patterns that support drive and pressure. If this sounds like you, keep reading.
Many of the traits that help entrepreneurs and high-functioning individuals succeed are genetically supported — but those same traits can quietly contribute to burnout and other health issues when the system isn’t properly supported.
In high-output individuals, I commonly see variants in pathways like:
COMT
Often supports fast thinking, decisiveness, and performance under stress.
Without proper support, this pathway can also affect hormone balance, stress hormone clearance, and detoxification, contributing to fatigue, inflammation, or burnout over time.
MAO (MAO-A / MAO-B)
Can support intensity, urgency, and reward-driven behavior — traits common in driven, high performers.
When demand stays high, this pathway can influence neurotransmitter balance, estrogen metabolism, and overall detox load, leading to feeling wired, depleted, or chronically stressed.
These traits aren’t flaws.
They’re often the reason success comes naturally.
The goal isn’t to lose what makes you successful —it’s to keep those traits working for you, while improving recovery, lowering chronic stress and fatigue, and protecting long-term health.
This is only a small snapshot. There are thousands of genetic variants I look at that further influence how these systems interact and express.
