You’ll lift, hoover, abduct, extend and flex both the shoulder and hip joint while stabilizing through the ENTIRE core during this little ditty in class tomorrow. Oh AND and combo of a weighted vest, ankle weights and/or wrists weights for some added spice 🔥🔥🔥

🧘‍♀️🙏🏻RESTORE CHALLENGE🙏🏻🧘‍♂️

Calling all those who sometimes feel tight, stressed, prone to injury, sore, irritated, you name it- join me for Elvtd Mvmt’s March Restore Challenge.

You have THREE opportunities a week to reconnect and replenish yourself through myofascial release and movement designed to give BOTH your mind and body more space.

“Too much”….”too much!” 😆

If only I had a dollar every time a student has said “you make it look so easy” - my response is always “yes, it’s my job.”

And I take my job seriously! It’s my job (the best as I can) to get movement down in MY body so I can better cue to and teach YOU how to embody it.

What people see in class is the smoothness of the last part of the video- not the many many times of “ too much!” or not enough 😏.

My true hope in class is to offer a space for you to explore ALL you didn’t know you were capable of. To set you up for the success of TRYING something with the complete understanding that it’s the “failures” that teach us the biggest lessons.

We’ll be exploring this little ditty in the Flow class Sunday the 12th, 5:45pm . I have no doubt you’ll have fun AND learn something new about how you can move!

Ya’ll! I’m quite excited about classes this week as we dive deep into the 360 core with loads of “fun” prop usage (gasp! What? Props!?? 😨😱) Get ready to feel your front/back and oblique slings 🔥🔥🔥 up in the effort of anti-rotation. It’ll be a blast, I promise 😉👊🏻🙏🏻

Also, it looks like skeleton was put in the naughty corner 😆😆……

Flying is freaking hard and I don’t think it gets easier the more you do it.

I think the hardness of trying always stays the same but the trust, confidence and equanimity you build with yourself grows so that every time you need to fly- you believe you will.

To articulate or not? That is the question!

I got very um….bored with traditional Surya Namaskar very quickly on in my teaching and have taught probably thousands of variations over the years.

Two of my favorite ways to switch it up is to focus either on articulation or spinal segmentation where I’m trying to be as fluid throughout my entire spine as possible- and you can see my anterior tilt makes for very little lumbar movement so I personally work this variation a lot…

OR

I’ll focus on “hinging” where I keep my spine relatively neutral and let my hip and shoulders do their thing.

Both have unique challenges not only physically but mentally and any time I get to introduce a new pattern into the mind/body connection I’m quite satisfied.

Try these two out and see how they feel!

I could have just posted the lower video of me doing this “thing” smoothly lookin like I’ve got it all together but wanted to share the Real time footage of my body trying something it’s never done before.

Apparently I think squeals and high pitched noises will help me achieve my desired outcome 😏😆.

You can see how my body is trying to figure out the balance between pushing into the strap and pulling myself up to balance - learning how much of each is necessary to imprint this motor skill into my body took about 2 minutes to find.

The process was waaaay more fun and informative than finally figuring it out!

Grab a yoga strap and give it a go- giggles and core burning guaranteed 😁🔥
